There is a region free version from Japan on Blu-ray from Sony.

As far as I know it's 2:35 aspect ratio.

The downside is the cheapest you'll be able to get it is around $42

More then likely since it a Sony disc, it will probably be the best version on Blu-ray of this movie. Looks like it will be years before this get a good US release.

No one should expect anything out of an Echo Bridge release. They are dumping a bunch of titles on Blu-ray they licensed in the most cost-effective manner possible. That means a BD-25, sourced from a broadcast or very dated master, with almost no extras and stereo sound. Importing from another country will be the best option going forward for any BD they happen to release.

Yes, the Japanese BD of Equilibrium aka (Rebellion) is distributed by Sony. It has stellar PQ and AQ in its OAR with the special features basically ported from the DVD. It's a great package besides the menu being in Japanese...but it' still easy enough to navigate.

I've said it before in this forum, but I got it for $35USD during play-asia.com Chinese New Years sale...So I do know it does go on sale...How often, I don't know...But, the only way I found that sale in the first place is because I was told beforehand when I was looking to purchase both Equilibrium and The Crow that they do occasionally go on sale. So to all who are looking...here's to hoping for a sale because this Echo Bridge release sounds like it will be disastrous...

Dang, from all I've read here it sounds like it's not going to be a good transfer. Looks like I'll be passing on this.

The problem will be finding one in a store. BB website shows them as "Not Available" which usually means they are only available "Online Orders Only".

Went to Best buy and Walmart and neither had it so I'm guessing you are right about it being online only.

The only Echo Bridge title that the local Best Buy I go to was Supercop.

So, as bad as Echo Bridge Blu releases have been, Best Buy has been carrying them at the stores, and not only that, but some of them have been available for weeks before the original release date. The Crow: City of Angels, From Dusk til Dawn, Halloween: H20 etc.etc. they are all availble at the store, and now you telling me that Equilibrium is not availlable at the store? This doesn't make any freakin' sense. All these Echo Bridge titles curently available at the store are not better or worse than Equilibrium, but they decided not to carry it at the store? For $10 I would have taken a chance........

It doesn't look like any of today's EB releases are available at BB today except for Supercop.

All I know is that if this release is shoddy I will not pay more than $30 shipped for the Japanese BD. Until that day I will continue to watch my Japanese HD DVD about once a month.

I agree. EB needs to stick to making shoddy DVD releases and probably needs to stay away from anything HD.

all of this had already been posted since the info was on their website, but they are bad about putting the wrong specs on the back of their own packaging so it's best to wait and see if somebody buys it and get specs straight from the disc.
