Default Tires and Wheels

I cannot believe that no one has started a thread about this automotive upgrade.

I have been looking for some wheels for my Pilot. I'm between 18" and 20" rims and then the appropriate tires for each.

Here are a few sets that I am looking at.







My question/concern is ride comfort of 255/55-20's versus 255/65-18's. I also need to consider what tires I am going to get. I have read some good reviews about the Yokohama Parada Spec-X, Goodyear Assurance CS Fuel Max, and the Michelin Latitude Tour HP.

Any thoughts?

I like the black ones personally. I usually opt for the "stealth" look, I've never been a fan of chrome rims.

The bigger the wheel size, the more harsh the riding comfort will be. Also, when rims are bigger they may throw the speedometer off (slightly), and you will probably experience less MPG because of the weight. You have a nice ride, and I'd stick with the same size but different style. Don't forget to buy some wheel locks. You never know when someone would try to take your wheels.

I got 2 pairs of wheel locks from H&A when they were on sale for $20 like a year ago.

Well, I ran the options past my wife and kids. I asked separately so they did not each others answers and they all picked the Platinum Wolverines.

I personally like the first ones -- KMC Rockstar Car.

I have also been looking at the Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza's. That pairing puts me at at just under $600 per wheel.

I see what you are saying. I am just wanting something different than everyone else's.

Wheel locks came with mine already.

I've been reading more on people who went with 20's on their Pilot or Odyssey and switches back to 17's or 18's.

Thinking of maybe the 18" Honda OEM "chrome-like" rims.



Or if I want more of a black look, back to the Elbrus from above...

Not quite sure, but pimpin is definitely out. The stealthy black rims seem like a good start. It will be awhile before I get to the rims, the car has to be painted first.

Not sure if you were looking for a set of 24's with spinners or something.

Depending on the amount of chrome you will have on the rest of the body, a black center with a chrome exterior may look nice. I was considering something like that in the past for my old Accord.

Thats the style and color of my car. Mine which has no rust, is in need of a paint job plus rims. I would like to update the rims to give it a new look. The current onces seem small, but am not sure how larger ones will go with the rest of the 14+ year old Jeep.

All I do, 5 days a week is look at wheels & tires. If anyone needs info let me know. I work with one of the best tire / wheel guys in the nation.

My car in 2006.


BEFORE: Stock rims, and tires.



AFTER: upgraded to 18" Acura A-Spec wheels, and Good Year Eagle 1 GS3 tires.



Today, my car looks exactly the same. No scratches, or dings and I'm at 140,000 miles.

Exactly, because it's hard to keep a nice car away from the salt unless you garage it all winter.

We still have to worry about hail, but I'm under the garage at least 60% of the entire day.
