I'm in the UK and want to buy several Verbatim BD-R 50gb discs, and cheapest i found was someone selling from Japan

So just wondered if they will work with a UK bluray recorder?

No, they're not region coded.

only the information you burn to them will be region coded. So make sure to burn region free info or only info for the regions your blu-ray player will play./
