Disclaimer II: It's not even a prediction, really. I don't think there's any real chance of it happening anytime soon let alone today. It's more wishful thinking. But I just finished watching it and it was pretty good so let MGM release 12 Angy Men - which I'm sure they'd do a fine job with - and let Criterion go after something which will otherwise likely never see a BD release. Or plaster the whacky C on both, that would be fine too.

Disclaimer III: Of course, if it does actually happen Disclaimer II is immediately void and it was a prediction and I'm brilliant and insightful and whatnot.

Criterion will not release THE HILL. It is a MGM Warner owned title.

! I too has been hoping for an announcement since December/January. Some De Sica and Kiarostami wouldn't hurt either. Well, I just remembered Criterion published kind of a tease back at the end of April for The Ghost Carriage, am I wrong?

Well...sad news about NetFlix streaming...thanks to jcs913 for the heads up on this:

According to criterioncast.com:

"Well we all knew this would happen. Back in February, when Criterion announced their epic digital streaming partnership with Hulu, they also quietly revealed that their streaming options on Netflix would be coming to an end over the course of the next year. While I haven’t been paying close attention to the Criterion Collection films that have been expiring since that announcement was made, I thought it would be helpful to all of you loyal Netflix subscribers to know that in about twelve days, 26 titles will be expiring on the 26th of May, 2011."

Here is the link...it lists the 26 titles...I've already placed them at the top on my Instant queue...25 films to watch in the next 10 days...oh well...

I rarely have complaints with Criterion, but them making their streaming package exclusive with Hulu Prime is one of the times I feel rather annoyed as a consumer. 90% of what makes Netflix so great is I can (easily) watch it on my TV. I don't, however, have an easy way to hook Hulu to my TV----and I loathe (with a passion) streaming on my laptop. Just over the weekend I started watching Horror House on regular hulu and stopped it about 20 minutes in because I hate watching stuff on my laptop.

I did what I haven't done before, and sought out the early spoilers for the releases.....

I am certainly not disappointed thus far.

Close. Criterion Cast is already teasing the announcements. I don't see why you guys feel that they are less valid as a source than Criterion, since everything they've ever teased has been accurate. There is one really awesome Korean title in the August list, too.

This is not true. CriterionCast has already teased "Tokyo Story" (blu-ray upgrade) in the past and that has yet to show up. I'm sure there are a few others, as well, if we were to look.
