Paramount don't really get value for money....
Indeed, getting all of the slimcases individually and new would be, what, £105? And yet this is £150? It may contain the bonus disc that the 20th anniversary set had, but still, it's one disc. At least with the incredibly expensive TOS set, the individual releases are really expensive anyway and so the price makes a bit of sense.

I suppose they're counting on suckers like me who want to get TV shows in entire series boxsets as opposed to individual releases, and will therefore shell out for this. I spent way too much on an OOP DS9 complete set a couple of years ago for just such a reason, and I'm hoping that this release will cause the complete 'grey' OOP TNG set to be put up on Amazon by sellers to match it...

Just thought it might be of interest to some fans considering the last 3 'Complete Series' DVD boxsets TNG had are all out of print (and the most recent one, the 20th Anniversary, had terribly cheap packaging). And, considering the amount of time and money it would take to get the series in HD, DVD is gonna be as good as it gets for a while. (plus it looks from the Amazon page to just be the already-existing discs put into new packaging, so not struck from new masters or anything.)
I already have all 7 of the re-released sets;

Took that pic from the listing, might just be a stock image they've added by mistake or all of those are just housed in the TNG complete collection box. Either way I'm not buying again lol

I really want to get the Original series on blu-ray, but prices are still a little crazy.

It seems that if you wait long enough the full set drops below the price of the individual sets. I always get the individual sets then regret it when I see the full sets going for next to nothing! At the moment I'm waiting for the Stargate SG-1 Complete set to come down in price but I run the risk of it disappearing off the market leaving the crazy Ebay prices as my only option. Some times it works out though I bought 3rd Rock From the Sun Complete Series for about £13 a few years back!

I love Star Trek though and a complete collection would be a great addition to any collection.

I'm sure we'll be seeing another reissue of the original series in five years time for the 50th anniversary.

Yeah, Sainsbury's have both sets for only £120 which isn't too bad (for some reason they've got a picture of an American release as the stock photo for TNG, but anyway).

It's true, complete sets do often go for good prices, especially around Christmas. But then you have sets like the older 'Complete series' releases of all the Star Trek series which have limited runs, or things like Seinfeld which have just gone out of print for no apparent reason. As you say, as soon as it goes out of print you're screwed with eBay prices...

I never bought any of TNG on DVD but have seen most of the episodes countless times through TV repeats and recordings, rentals, and VHSs I used to own as a kid. I may pick this up, or wait to see if one of the older 'complete series' sets now start going for semi-decent prices.

I don't know whether I'll pick up the TOS set though. It's the Star Trek I've seen the least of and I'm not sure I could get into it now. For me DS9 is the pinnacle of the franchise, with TNG being inconsistent but having an enjoyable enough nostalgic value for me. With TOS I'm not sure whether it's worth it... (I do like the films though)

It amazing how well they've been treated by Paramount. I think I prefer the ones with an arch as well. TOS is more your gaseous anolmaly of the week over character development like DS9. They good fun though but definitely of their time.

DS9 is probably my least favourite Star Trek series. Great characters, probably some of the best from any series but the whole space station thing just didn't do it for me. My preferred order:
TNG - VOY - TOS - ENT - Animated - DS9

DS9 is still watchable though, if any of the series are on TV I'll watch them.

You really put the boot in mate, with the Animated Series ahead of DS9. The animated ones were fun though. I still love the promise Enterprise had.

I still havent seen TOS yet. Ive watched star trek on tv since TNG and have recently got TNG, DS9, VOY and ENT.

Having watched every episode over the past 2months, I have to say DS9 was by far the best of the four. I like the way they serialised it after the 2nd season and stoped having cliff hanger season finales. Something no other season had done. Its the most original series since TOS.

DS9 - TNG - ENT - VOY

I really want to see TOS but really cant afford it on BD.

I definitely think DS9 is the best, but obviously it relies more on character drama than adventure compared to the other series so I get why other fans might not like it. I just think it has so much more depth to it and I generally much prefer serialised television anyway. I like the extra investment in character and long story arcs

I never got round to watching more than the first season of ENT. I kind of feel like I want to watch the rest of that along with TOS considering I was such a huge Trek fan as a kid. I feel obligated to have seen them all

I totally agree with you on both comments : DS9 for me is also the best TREK and yes, I really would love to have the TOS Blu Ray's to but way too expensive at this point.

I've already got season 2 on blu ray. For now I'll stick with the DVD versions of seasons 1 & 3 I already have. If the price came down I'd consider upgrading the other seasons to blu ray, but £50 a season is too much.

I have all the star trek seasons on DVD (TOS, TAS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT) and all the movies on blu ray, so it's not as if I need to complete my collection or anything.

Has anyone bought this box set yet? I want to see pictures of the box. I already own the original series on blu ray. Tempting...

I was in WHSmiths and saw (I think it was) on the back page of one of the magazines, that TNG was coming June, DS9 in July, Voyager in August and Enterprise in September. I assume this is just too DVD, no BR versions.

Anyway if they have already been released why are they re-releasing them, is this just as full series box sets like pictured above, cause I much prefer buying them as individual seasons cause it helps spread the cost out a little.

Some people like having them all in a big boxset, I generally much prefer to buy my TV shows like this... in fact, I try to avoid buying individual seasons until the whole thing is out, and I just watch them online/on TV until then.

Nice that the rest of them are coming out, I guess. The original DVD Complete Series boxsets of TNG, DS9, VOY and ENT are long out of print, though I have the DS9 one, I'm sure it'll be less collectable now! DS9 is already up for pre-order on a few websites, though no pictures yet (Amazon's one is an image of the US boxsets, and is obviously not final)

Figures since I just got done ripping the 3 box sets to mkv...managed to fit all 79 episodes plus 2 pilots onto 4 blu-rays. Hopefully the DTS is full 1510Kbps for all episodes of this new box set since Season1 box set was only at 755kbps DTS bit rate for the first 29 episodes. Audio was upgraded to full 1510Kbps DTS when Season2&3 box sets were released though...

The prices do play a big factor, unfortunately, which I why I too, will wait until they drop. It's only a couple of years now that I've got into Star Trek, and now I'm hooked. Really want these on Blu-ray.
