My blu ray 3d player says menu but the tv says change resolution. Tried it in my region free player and it worked so I guess the confirmed ABC on the page is false.

It's not a "region lock" issue though, it's a compatibly issue with 50hz signals. The set probably is actually region free, it's just that the menu is 50hz which is not the standard in the US. That might seem like hollow consolation, and I guess it may as well be labled as region locked.

Unfortunately this minor distinction only helps a small subset of people, people that have Region A locked players w/ a display that can also support 50hz signals, or alternatively a region A player that CONVERTS 50hz to a 60hz signal on any TV.

I found a list of such players on this site
https://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-pl...st1818503.html

My player is listed as supporting 50hz, but unfortunately does not "convert" it to 60hz and I don't think my TV can handle that. So I guess I'll not take a chance on this set based on that. I'll probably end up waiting until I get a "region free" player anyway...

hi there,
interested in getting the series 1 & 2 boxset. but would like to know if the set is "complete" - does it have the Halloween special that was released separately?!

Yes, it does. But you should be aware that the stand alone Halloween Special has bonus features, including a commentary. The special on the S2 pack has no commentary or related special features.

I know. An odd choice to hold back for a separate release - they may as well not have bothered putting the special on the S2 release, at least then people could justify more the purchase of the special.

You should be able to pick up the special for about £5 if you shop around these days.

cheers for that!! think I will get it now for under 10 squid for the box set I will be paying, thanks to an Amazon refund from a dodgy dealer on Marketplace (well, 'spose I paid the extra in the end anyway if you argue!)

cheers for that info - interesting to know. Had only ever seen 2 minutes of the whole of Psycoville - a sketch with a mother and son (Pemberton & Shearsmith) who murder people and then Mark Gatiss in a suit visits and they are dancing to Bucks Fizz's Superman - it just felt like a new series of LoG!! I had intended to see it all - as I was once a HUGE fan of League of Gentlemen - but somehow managed to miss all of this show. Will check out the boxset - and then decide to get the extra Halloween disc, depending how much I get in to it.
Just hate the idea of them bringing out another release of EVERYTHING with more extras and then regretting I didn't wait (as its against my religon to double dip!)

Stop Press

After listening to the commentary on the stand alone Halloween Special its come to my attention that the wrong edit of the special was released on the series 2 package. One of the segments (with Lomax) was edited out.

This is because it was an edit for the US and rather than trim the odd 10 seconds here and there, it was easier to remove a segment.

It found its way onto the release by accident, not by intent. I've checked and the segment is missing of the blu-ray for S2. So I guess that explains the release of the Halloween special on its own after S2.
