I dont know where the thread is, but I remember we had a discussion about getting these to put the extra disc on movies like POTC that use a paper sleeve. Anyways I found a place to buy the "hub"

I keep all my steel books in blockbuster video lock boxes. Theres a couple of stores closing in my area, I approached the manager about them and he gave me about a 100 or so. They dont lock, but its good protection for them you can also stack them on each other with no problems to your steels.

I purchased 100 of these about 18 months ago. The problem with these is that after a while the adhesive becomes tacky and combined with the weight of the disc they slip down or simply fall straight off. |

Removed the shrink wrap from my Gangs of New York Steelbook only to find the paper label on the backside get stuck to the Steel, now I got a blob of residue on the back.
What would be the best way to remove this without damaging the cover? View it: [Show spoiler]

Use goo gone and wet paper towels. The paint should have some type of protection (clear coat) so you'll be fine.

Also, are there any sleeves to protect my Band Of Brothers or The Pacific set ? Last edited by MitsuMarky; 04-26-2011 at 05:00 AM. |

I got a recommendation at HighDefDigest to use butter to help remove the sticker as substances like Goo Gone can cause some "shiny" areas to the Steelbook. Anyone done this method (using butter)?

It sounds a little risky, but I've used lighter fluid &/or gasoline on quite a few Steels
![]() It breaks down the adhesive nicely, and I haven't damaged the finish or left any marks on a Steel yet I wouldn't suggest soaking a SteelBook in gas overnight, but a little on the corner of a paper towel won't do any damage ...just make sure when you're done you wipe your SteelBook down w/ a fresh, dry paper towel The best way to remove the majority of leftover adhesive (from stickers & security tabs) is to use the part of the sticker or tab that you were able to remove on what's left stuck to your Steel ...just blot the area where the sticker was with the sticker itself -- that stubborn adhesive that just smears if you try to wipe it off will stick right onto the rest of the adhesive that's still on the back of the sticker ![]() |

Hey,
dont you know, where to buy these protection sleeves? (besides eBay, i dont have account there yet) : I ordered from this site, cos i thought these were the ones on the video, but actually these ones pretty sux. The sticky line is not on the upper edge of longer side, but on the edge of shorter side, it`s good just for G1 format. If anyone know where to buy the ones on the video, tell me pls. Thanks |

I bought the 14mm bags from Protected.de. They fit Steelbooks perfectly and have a very small flap at the top with the adhesive on the top edge of the bag itself, not the flap. This means you won't get the bag stuck to your steelbook by accident when removing or putting it back into the bag.
I also bought a bunch of their clear slipcases for Steelbooks. son't like how they don't protect the bottom of the of the Steelbook against shelf wear, so what I do is bag the Steelbooks first and then put them in the Slipcase. It gives the covers a nice, glossy look, and the spines look really nice on the shelves with the outer slipcases on. HTH |
