Quick question: what do you think of the Klipsch RC-52II?? How is it compared to the Energy CC10.
klipsch and Energy pairing would be a really bad matchup.... even tho they are different divisions of the same company, they don't sound anything alike.

If you would have Klipsch RF-62 I would say buy the RC-52 but the important thing in HT is to have the most seamless transition as possible and your best option is the CC-10 unless you would use another identical tower as your center.

Yes, your are right as you have said the same before. Thanks! I was just curious as they were on sale and the guy at best-buy recommended it. Then again I remember what you guys had said about best-buy reps before. LOL

Just tempted.. anyway .. I have finally gathered enough dough, about $400 to buy a subwoofer. Do you guys still think my best bet would be the HSU SF-2? Anything else you would recommend?

My current setup as follows:
ONKYO HT RC270
Sonance Sonamp 260
Energy CC 10
Energy CF 70 x2 FR/FL
Definitive Techs Pro Monitor 800 x4 SL/SR and SBL/SBR
Onkyo SKW 204

I am using the Sonance Sonamp 260 to biamp the CF70s. I am more then welcome to all suggestions and upgrades. Thanks a ton guys!! Especially BigAl87 & callas01. YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!

Adept you are very welcome as for sub, ED A2-250 or the A3S-250 for sealed box, both get great reviews .

Callas owns the A2-300 but I think he would be tempted to say go with the the HSU. Lava 10 is not bad either and I think you would have a discount since you are a bluray.com member..

You can hardly find anything better than those 3 in their price range.

So I guess you are telling me that though there are a few good subs out there.. HSU is the one to with.. huh.. OKAY! I will do just that then.. so far I seem to enjoy all the suggestions so it is good

BTW, what do you think of the current setup? Any recommendations? what is your opinion on the Sonance?

CF-70 and CC-10 are pretty decent speakers, they have agreat ability to play really loud those puppies and they can take more power than what your Sonamp can provide, I mean you could go crazy on a 2 channel power amps and single wire them to that amp but for now I think you have a more than satisfying setup, The receiver is more than adequate, it's not the best Onkyo but it's far from the bottom of the ladder. Put that HSU sub in the mix and you will be in for an amazing movie experience.

I cannot comment on the Sonance amp as I have no experience with them but I know there is always better out there but how crazy are you willing to go?

How good would the CC-5 pair with CF-70's? I initially wanted to get the CC10 to be my center but to do so would require a few tweaks to my existing entertainment stand as in cutting up some stuff to get it to fit. The CC5 would fit perfectly in my open shelf below my TV. Would I be shortchanging myself opting for the CC5 instead of the CC10 to go with my CF-70's or would the CC5 perform just fine for it's intended purpose? Anyone have a CC5 paired with CF-70's?

I would say no, it's a move you might regret altho it could work, it would be hard to make it keep up with the CF-70 since it's not as efficient and the driver size is much smaller and transition will not be as seamless. The C-C50 back then from the previous generation of Conoisseur matched up better to the C-500 for instance as it extended lower than the CC-5 and the whole line was design to work with the anything in the line. The CC-5 design is really in focus with the CB5 for anyone wanting a nice small HT.

Thanks for the info. That's one thing I don't want is to regret anything I'm pretty sure I'd have that feeling if I went with the CC5 over the 10. Just wanted to make sure. Looks like I'll have to try and reconfig the entertainment stand.

I have the same setup CF 70 for front L&R and CC 10 for the Center and it sounds too good to be missed. So, I would recommend you get the CC 10 too.

LOL....

For $350, I think the STF-2 is a hard sub to beat. If you can step up to the eD A2-300($415) its a better sub, and competes better with the VTF-2 MK3($550).

So if you can spend $415, get the eD A2-300, if you only have $350, get the Hsu STF-2

Well, my listening styles as follws:

I watch tons of Blu-ray, almost one a day!!! and listen to music almost 24/7 so I need a sub that will keep me happy in both worlds.

I listen to all kind of muisc to include Rock, Hip hop, Jazz & Classic.

I think I can come up with the 415 but I am not too sure as I have been hearing mixed views about the HSU SF2 vs eD A2-300. I just wish that I can listen to them both to compare...

Why do you say the A2 300 to be better than the SF 2??

I think the A2 300 will pound more and will be capable of lower extension but Steve (callas) do you think the HSU is more musical for instance? I would think so but I was never able to compare them.

As I said many times it also what you expect your sub to do and I am not going to hide tha ED had their share of problems with their sub at some point when they had really high demend but considering their relartively low price the are terrific performers.

The eD will have more power and visceral slam, it will be more likely to shake your room. Its musical, but I think the Amps on the Hsu subs are better. The Bash amps are very good amps. Personally, Id take the A2-300 over the STF-2 if you want to feel more of the movie. For your setup either would do good, but the eD will be more powerful and give you heavier bass.

For me, I don't need a subwoofer with my speakers for any of the music I listen to. So I don't use it that way. For HT, the eD is a better sub.

If the OP would go with the A2-250 basically you 10 inch version, would end up being a very close matchup I guess but still extends lower than the HSU.

If he is feeling adventurous he could get the HSU sub for music, then install some aura bass shakers to add shaking he wants.

yes for sure.

Understand that even tho I own an eD sub, I like the Hsu subs a little bit better. However, for the price of the A2-300, you get 90-95% of the VTF-2.3, the Hsu has a little better amp, but really when you figure that the Hsu VTF-2.3 costs $135 more, then to add $60 in shipping, its not worth the extra $200, IMO. Now the eD A2-250 vs the Hsu STF-2, I like the Hsu more, because it provides a lot for a 10" sub, and has a good amp, however the eD will dig deeper, but i don't think a 10" needs to go that deep, its better playing louder from 22 hz on up, which is where the Hsu will excell, and be better then the eD. When building subs, just like speakers, there are compromises. A 10" that can provide more output(loudness/volume) from 22-25hz and up, will give you the sense that there is more bass then a 10" that has less volume, but digs deeper. You really have to choose what you want, and what your preference is.

getting bass shakers will be nice to make the room and chair shake, but honestly, if youre going to add in that cost, you should just get a better sub to start with, IMO.

Looks like the Energy thread got a little sidetracked, but this got me curious. If the A2-300 would compete with the VTF-2, what are your thoughts on the VTF3-MK3 compared to the A3-300?
