Always used to play MTG at the card shops. Now all the ones here closed. Had high hopes for the first game but it just isn't the same.

If WotC ever released an actual card game with the actual cards and rules I would get it. These are just cheap knockoffs. and not MTGO, I'm not paying for digital cards and packs. They should come with the game.

I won't even bother with these programs if they don't have a true deckbuilder.

I tried the first one and being forced to use multiple Walls of Wood was such an eye-roller I couldn't be bothered to keep playing.

I was so upset when I realized i couldn't use the cards i had "won" to make a custom deck. The AI gets custom decks but I have to use some lame stacked against me deck. Why would they think that would be fun? the whole point of ANY card game is to make a deck you enjoy with custom themes or cards.

+2.

The original Pokemon Gameboy card card is leagues ahead of every MTG digital game ever released. You used what you won. And you got free packs after each victory. (Unlike MTGO where you have to use real money for them)

To be honest I liked Duel of the planeswalkers, now like others I would have wanted the ability to assemble decks.

Worse is the decks they supposedly used are not there true planewalker decks which leaves me scratching my head.

I wish also as another mode to let you duel with planes walker cards.

That also caused me to scratch my head.
Thankfully it mostly followed the rules more aggressively then magic the gathering which causally exploited the rules. Of course the time limit thing for picking blockers is stupid.. when I have 50 creatures I have reason to take longer then someone with 2... which is the games greatest weakness.

In my years of playing the game in person never has anyone ever sat a small sand timer and try to tell me I ran out of time and must take all damage from creatures I had yet designated a blocker for.

I thought the old Microprose Magic game was incredibly well done, and the RPG integration was great. And while it's ridiculously overpowered it's fun having 12 Moxen, 4 Black Lotus/Time Walk/Timetwister/Ancestral Recall + 12 cards of your choice just to see how overpowered you could get when they didn't expect people to seriously optimize decks.

Overpowered decks got pretty ridiculous in the older games. MtG lives and dies by its rules modifications over the years.

Even so, I just picked up MTG2010 from PS+ a few days ago and have been busily unlocking cards from decks for the trophy. As luck would have it, I ended up with a pretty amusing draw while trying to unlock the cards in the elf deck.

Yes, that's a 1041/1040 Rhys the Exiled. She has 991 +1/+1 counters and under the influence of a Coat of Arms with 47 elves in play.

Certainly not practical in any sort of competitive game, but it's fun to taunt the CPU with stupid ridiculous combos "just because" sometimes.
