I like Alan Tudyk a lot, particularly in Firefly/Serenity, but I'd be surprised the executives would think he's enough of a marketable name for top billing in a film like this.

I'm not as familiar with Ant-Man from the comics though, so maybe he's just perfect. I do like Edgar Wright and will see this regardless of who ends up being cast in the role.

Hopefully his role in the Avengers movie (if true) will be significant enough to get some attention. Wade Wilson did not have a huge role in Wolverine, but they are making a spin-off for the character. I don't know if Hank Pym should have that much screen time, but it will create some public awareness of the character.

Alan Tudyk is a terrific actor, but you are right in that he is not a well known name and I don't know if he has carried any movie on his own. He has been very good in everything I have seen him in though.

Ant Man? I have faith in Edgar Wright. Lets hope he knocks it out of the park like usual.

You keep the budget to $70 million or less it should make money. It will probably have a few other characters, obviously Wasp will be in it. SHIELD will probably be in it, Agent Colson most likely and they could probably fit stuff for Hawkeye to be in it to tie it in more with the Avengers.

You do want the movie to about the character not just another so and so's new movie. If the movie is done well enough it won't matter who plays the lead roll.

GOOD NEWS!

Source: IGN

Quote:
Ant-Man, the big screen adaptation of the Marvel comic, is slowly moving forward according to attached director Edgar Wright. The British film-maker told 24 Frames that he's gone back to work on the script that he and co-writer Joe Cornish began in 2008.

Wright and Cornish, who are also working on the script for Spielberg's Adventures of Tintin movies, wrote a first draft of the Ant-Man in 2008, before Wright began work on Scott Pilgrim.

"This one's not about the urgency of summer tentpoles and things going into production without a script," Edgar told 24 Frames, "It's slightly different than that."

Edgar is now back at work on Ant-Man, and has recently been having meetings with Marvel's production head Kevin Feige, although it's unclear whether Ant-Man will be the next Edgar Wright project to get off the ground, as he also reveals in the interview that he's got a new project that he's hoping to work on with Spaced co-creator Simon Pegg.

This could be the long-awaited third part of the 'Blood and Cornetto' trilogy, At World's End, but for now it looks like Ant-Man could be Wright's next project

Edgar Wright 'completes Ant-Man script'

Quote:
Edgar Wright has handed an Ant-Man script over to Marvel Studios, his writing partner has revealed.

The Shaun Of The Dead director's co-writer Joe Cornish confirmed at this weekend's Kapow! Comic Con that a second draft of the superhero film had been completed.

Cornish announced to Bleeding Cool: "We delivered the second draft of Ant-Man two days ago, and we're really happy with it."

The project, which has yet to be officially greenlit, is reportedly being lined up to follow Marvel's 2012 vigilante-team up The Avengers, and has been given a tentative release date of 2014.

Wright resumed work on the Ant-Man script in January after taking a leave of absence to complete Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World.

Wright previously stated his desire to create a "bad-ass" Ant-Man adaptation.

Good news, but I'd rather Wright finish the Ice Cream & Blood trilogy first

So with the script complete, I was thinking about who I'd like to see most as Hank Pym and I think I came to my conclusion:

John Krasinkski!

I never realized until recently how perfect he would be in the role. I'd really like to see him get the chance at it. I know he was up for Captain America, so Marvel was obviously wanting to work with him. This would be a perfect opportunity I think.

John Krasinkski is an interesting choice and my reaction is the same as was for Captain America: initial NO! When thinking about it a little more, I can see that as a possibility. I really have not seen him play anything else. I would like to see him try something very different. So long as he doesn't do Jim Halpert as Hank Pym.

Eh, I hope john doesn't do anything with Marvel because I was fully supporting him for Captain America until the hack director went with the confused Chris Evans both who seem like they don't understand the character. Bastards.

Let's address the problems, first it says next after The Avengers what about IM3 so it will come out in a year time between TA and IM3. Secondly it says 2014. No films in 2013 oh no there is IM3 and Dr. Strange? and others.

I always thought S.H.I.E.L.D. was after TA.

I didn't say it was, but it's most likely. Certainly more likely than Dr Strange. I'd wager the only way a 2nd Thor won't be released in '13 is if CA:FA is more successful than Thor and the sequel gets priority. Let's also not forget Marvels post-Avengers plan is four films a year. It's possible we could get all three sequels AND Ant-man in 2013.
