INSIDERS: According to the Financial Times (link: http://www.ft.com/cms/s/8d56c2a8-bc8...0779fd2ac.html) Paramount does have a way out to get back to Blu-ray sooner rather than later.
"Universal has been the format’s biggest champion but it was tight lipped on Sunday about its next move. It was unclear whether the studios backing HD-DVD would change sides, although it is understood that Paramount has reserved the right to switch its backing to Blu-ray." Anything you can add to this? |

"About as close as a drunken sailor getting a date with Queen Elizabeth II, while yelling into the window of her carriage as it is passing by in a procession.
Please, spare me anymore after-the-fact internet intrigue" Penton-man Wasn't trying to start anything, just wanted some official smackdown of Vaughn fud. |

I thank you much Penton for everything. I love the way you let us know what's going on without telling us what's going on, but really telling us (er, well, you know what I mean). ![]() Glad to hear everything is good at home. I'm sure the final nail will not be long coming... |

I think that to say a retailer has gone Blu-ray exclusive should mean just that.
For example Target never went Blu-ray exclusive the last time they did - if you see what I mean. You can still buy HD DVD movies at Target and on their website you can buy HD DVD players (and movies too). So, for future reference, here's where I personally set the bar. A retailer will have gone Blu-ray exclusive when: 1) Absolutely no HD DVD related products (hardware & software) can be found in any of the retailers B&M locations. 2) Absolutely no HD DVD related products can be found on the retailers website. 3) Blu-ray is clearly and strongly promoted as the one and only HD disc format. Sorry to be so strict, but I happened to look up the word 'exclusive' and it was defined in a pretty clear way. I felt the Target exclusive thing from 2007 was more than a little bogus frankly. I think the 2008 version is more likely to be true but let's see how things pan out in the next few weeks as retailers decide how to pull the plug on a format that consumers are going to be increasingly not wanting to buy into. |

When was the Wal-Mart announcement? Maybe yesterday afternoon here in Montrose, A truck drove right through the front doors and ended up in the electronics section, about halfway through the store, maybe the driver was delivering the note and couldn't believe what he was reading.

The best thing that could happned when Hd Dvd does die will be for Toshiba to include Hd Dvd playback on their Blu-ray players. That way reds can seemlesly move into Blu-ray without starting over. As a purple i don't want to re buy my 17 Hd Dvd movies. These of coarse is less of a big deal for me as it is for reds. Hell my Blu-ray collection is older and a bit bigger than my Hd-dvd collection. But alot of buddies of mine on the Hd-dvd forum have collections in the hundreds. They need yo be taken care of.
