Hehe, No I am no sound engineer I inform myself a lot and when you are so passionate about something I guess you want to learn as much as you can, and like Callas I do a lot of auditioning I we both came to a point where we can find very little nuance in sound sometimes not obvious at all.

I have audition many speakers before buying my current ones, Altho we may sound or look like experts to you we are far from it . I have also gone to many shows and read alot on the topic.

We will try to inform you to the best of our knowledge based on experience with products we know, I can speak for several speaker brands and also fact is that sometime you come to much different results with speakers when hooked up to different gear some speakers are more sensitive to this kind of change, I have Paradigm in mind, If I were to buy a pair of Studios I think I could enjoy them a lot as long as I pair them with Anthem. Marantz makes them perform well like DLS said he likes them as much as his veritas but for different reasons.

I f I could I would have 3 or 4 different pair of speakers to listen to different kind of music.

BTW Congrats on that ED sub I hope you are redy to move that beast around as it weighs 73 lbs

I'm gonna let them play for a few days before really listening but have done some switching back and forth between these and my Studio 100's. I put the Studio 100's inside making the 100's only 5ft apart and these 7ft apart.

For now I will say a few things.. They are both very efficient speakers and are only 1db different on average when switching back and forth with the Paradigms up one. Not noticeable at all though. I am not using the XPA-3 for either speakers.. just the SR8002. I will compare them more in the next few weeks but so far they are pretty good. I've only played some Holly Cole, Amos Lee and One Republic so far but will try all kinds of music and movies to compare. They throw a nice wide soundstage like the Paradigms.. The mids sound a bit thin in comparison but also have a more forward presentation than I was expecting - the mid range vocals seem to just jump out at times. Not noticeable when listening to it straight but when I switch back and forth Holly Cole's voice sometimes sounds a little nasal and on the Paradigms sound more natural. Bass is good with no port plugs used - has more bass the the 100's and sounds a bit cleaner which kind of surprised me since I didn't play around with the placement yet. I will be using my subs most of the time so that won't make much of a difference. The highs are actually very similar to the Paradigms.. not bright but on the brighter side of neutral. I understand these need lots of play time to break in but so far I like them and they would be a wicked buy if they started dropping in price like the RC's did. At it's price now - there are probably several other speakers that cost less and play better though. I feel the Paradigm's are better overall at similar price points but that could change after break-in. I prefer the look of the Veritas over the Studios but the Gloss finish might be distracting when watching a movie with the room dark.

I might be letting go of the Paradigms soon to make room for the SALK SongTower - RAAL's. I love the Paradigms and might end up with Sig's eventually but only time will tell. SALK's should be here in a few weeks.

Here are some pics of the Veritas and Studio 100's..

Very nice dls how do you like them? And are you going to get the matching center to demo?

Grats on your new sub! Myself I have been in this since the mid-80s and have been playing in bands since the 90s. (Probably the main reason for my obsession with bass) Always learning and there’s so much about sound I’m still learning. The main thing I have learned is even though there is always a better deal around the corner (dollar value) it all comes down to your ears and your taste. When you pay more you get better quality almost always.(there are exceptions like internet direct companies) A set of 3k speakers vs another set of 3k speakers is like one artist(band) vs another just no right or wrong answer.

Have you heard any Dynaudio speakers before?
No they were the older PL Bookshelves.

I did actually finally get to hear some Dynaudio Focus 220's. I am not gonna judge them because I was kind if handing off to the side on someone else's audition and didn't want to rush him. I also finally heard some PSB Synchrony one B's and Harbeths at the same place which I tought were nice sounding especially the Harbeths.

I always found the RCR to be disappointing, like you I've had trouble finding anything that can compare to the Digm cc 690. I can say that I've always been impressed by the RC Mini center for it's size it does very well. Hen't heard the new Verita center though.

Do you have a good klipsch dealer up there? If you’re looking for that next main speaker I would at least try the rf-7ii you might love it. Pretty sure The Factor switched from Paradigm to the 7s. Even if you have heard the rf-82s (about the top model most places have) it’s a totally different animal build and sound wise.

They use to sell almost the whole line of the prvious generation in Canada at FS like the 62, the 82 and the RF 1 also. the High end stuff is availble also like the P-39 which I was able to see but did not audition it, I had no time I was auditioning Dalis at the time.

BB carries the Synergy line anf the Ikon line also.

That’s pretty much the lower line stuff. Its strange cause Klipsch owns Energy so I’m surprised they don’t sell the klipsch line too. Do they sell Mirage? Cause klipsch owns them as well.

Yes they sell Mirage here too but as I said They sell the P39 in Canada, I don't think it get's any better than that in the Klipsch lineup

Callas is right they are owned by Audiovox now and from experience since Klipsch has moved the manufactiring of Energy to China there has been issues with quality control, Callas knows about it, Sub dust cap coming off, led burning out after one week, subs with ratteling sound out of the box, stuff we have never experinced when API owned them and speakers were made in Canada.

I just find that a bit sad. Altho they still make, design and engineer nice speakers. As Callas said now that they are owned by Audiovox, i don't even think I will ever consider them again, Totem has stop doing business now with Peerless since Peerless has moved their production to China. They have gone towards Scan Speak, still making business with Dynaudio and started to build their owned drivers.

Wow they moved them to china (energy) on all the models? I know most of klipsch is built in china as well. The only speakers they make in US now are the rf-7ii, rc-64ii and the Heritage line. I do know about the sale to Audiovox that’s taking place. I can’t really see it being a good thing for klipsch. This very well could end up being my last klipsch speakers. I mean Audiovox makes 100% junk it’s just the total opposite to what klipsch does.

Energy currently only has the Veritas and Conoisseurs and yes both are made in China and all subs are now made in China, the Sub I own is made in Canada while API was still the owners bu my C-R100 are made in China. Don't tell me the Palladium is made in China??

Because i didn't really sit down and listen to them all I could hear from the side of the room was it's off axis performance and because I was standing I would say that is why I felt they founded a bit veiled in the mids and higher frequencies. I'm sure they sounded good from the actual seats set up. I will have to stop by the shop again next time I get a chance. I also got to see the C2's and Focus 360's (not hooked up) and they are huge.. much bigger than they look in pictures. I'd love to hear the Contours.

Palladium yes is built in the US (my bad always forget them) I read they have made more demo speakers than they have sold of the p-39. No offence to klipsch but if I was buying 20k speakers I would buy them from a company that specializes in speakers that cost 10-50k.

Yeah I think it's what I would miss most. Hopefully not so bad since I'm usually always in the sweet spot. I did used to have an MTM center on my first setup with the Polk Monitors and it wasn't so bad from the other seats. I also tried 3 RC-LCR's up front a couple of years ago and they were good but as a center channel doesn't even come close to the CC-690.

I would love to hear the RF-7II's. I've heard Klipsch RF's many times and I don't think they are as bad(bright) as many people make it seem. I heard them switched back and forth with ML Motions at Futureshop one time(I know shitty place to listen) and the ML's toop end actually sounded brighter to me.

Im sure you won't find them veiled. Soft Dome tweeters have a little different sound then Metallic tweeters, so there will be some differences there, and maybe you just have to get used to the different sound.

here is a review of Aces shared with me at one point, difference between the Studio 10s and Excite X12s
http://www.goodsound.com/equipment/d...excite_x12.htm

Of course you may like the sound of metal domes more, and that may appeal to you. Youre the first person I have heard say that Dyn speakers sound veiled... lol.

The Studio series is very close to the Excite's and once you factor in the significant price difference that's the edge for some people. Unless it's a discontinued model it's hard to get a discount off of the msrp on the Dyn's. The X12's are $1356 after tax, I can get a pair of Studio 10's right now for $800 after tax. That's a big difference in price, in fact I got the Sig S1's for $100 less than the X12's. The X12's are good but I don 't think they reach that high, I can't say for sure as I've never heard them but would like to. Being that we are in Canada we can get some fantastic deals on Digms if your willing to look. When reading reviews that compare the two brands the equivalent Dyn series always seems to be slightly better than the Digms but at a pretty big increase in cost, in Canada anyway.
