I suspect he means more true to the way he feels his movies should look.

He's said before he is the authority on the way his films should look. And he's rather a zealot about that. He really cares. But he was working on the Blu-ray:

What did Paramount forget with the sound on HD? Explain it to me. Did they deliver something less then perfect? I never got involved in the HD version because I was so into Blu-ray, so what did the tech department not do?

thanks for the reply, but is he saying that BD does something HD DVD cant in order to produce a "more true" version of his movie? I just cant help but call a little BS on this. I own both formats and both look great. Never have I seen a move on either format look "more true" as he puts it.

If he says BD can make his movie look more like he wants it to I would like to know specifically what technical dissadvantage HD DVD has which clearly results in his movie looking "less true".

Yeah, unfortunately there's no comparison available for one of Bay's movies in both high-bitrate BD and a lower bitrate HD DVD encode. Yet.

But as has been reported with releases like Nature's Journey, an encode optimized for BD is sharper than the one done for HD DVD, and requires less tweaking according to the encoders.
