Default New to Blu.

Just wanted to say hi to everyone and hoped everyone had a great Christmas and New years because I know I did.

Anyhow, for Christmas this year i was given a PS3, A Samsung LCD tv and as well a Samsung home theater in a box. I was wondering if anyone here can help me set up my home system to it's maximum potential. What cables would I need to buy and what settings should I set them too to get the full Blu-ray experience. I find that buying these Blu-ray movies are quite addiction because I've already bought about 30 and find myself going broke. Haha.

The models of my tv is LNT4061F and the Home theater unit is HT-TX75 as well as the PS3 as my Blu-ray player. Any help or suggestions would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

What a great set of Christmas gifts.
Welcome to the forum, the format, and the future.

As far as calibrating your tv you can go here: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/
Enter the term "calibrate samsung lnt 4061f" into the forum search and it should point you to postings from people with your tv recommending how to tweak the settings.

You should get 2 hdmi cables; 1 to go from the PS3 to the ht receiver, and 1 to go from the receiver to the tv.
Here's a great place to get hdmi cables at very affordable prices: http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2
If you'd rather not wait for hdmi cables in the mail you should be able to pick them up at your local cable tv office for under $20 a piece.

Make sure you get HDMI cables. The brand really doesn't matter, so just get the cheapest ones you can find.

Digital cables aren't like analogs, any will due just fine.
It's just streaming 1's and 0's through the plug.

Thanks for the help so far. I was wondering which would output better sound for my setup. Should I just leave the HDMI cables pluged to the reciever or should i use optical cables?

Default WAIT, READ and RECONNECT YOUR SYSTEM

First, if you have not already bought hdmi cables, I very strongly recommend going to bluejeanscable.com to get quality much better than any "Monster" cable. You can get a 4 foot hdmi for $20.00. For your setup hook an hdmi cable from the PS3 to your samsung receiver and another hdmi from the hdmi output on the samsung receiver to the lcd tv. In the setting on the PS3 under audio options dvd/blu-ray change the audio output format from bitstream to PCM. Then in the video options on the PS3 change the output resolution to 1080p. Doing this will allow you to hear uncompressed PCM and Dolby TrueHD tracks in their full glory and once you set the PS3 to output PCM you won't have to change it again. When watching a blu-ray under audio options select Dolby TrueHD if available, if not then select Uncompressed PCM. This should be an awesome setup! Good luck!

Oh, one more thing, take back those Mad Catz cables and get your money back they are junk and you are paying for marketing. Check out the bluejeanscable.com site and also check out audioholics.com
