Technically it is possible to make a BLU-RAY dual disc with a DVD version on one side and a BLU-RAY version on the other. So far early adopters are not interested in that feature.
Yes Universal studios could phase out DVD for new releases and make only HD-DVD dual discs and make it $5+ more then a standard DVD. The problem is unless the HD-DVD camp can get Sony pictures, Disney, and Fox to release on HD-DVD then most likely the HD-DVD format will die or coexist if several combo HDTV players are released. |

That's what I meant. Same side, not flippers. And that article is 2 years olf. I'm looking for any new info as to whether or not this can be done in the future.

Oh, you mean mass production. They don't want to do it. It is a complicated process and would cost more. They think only a niche crowd is really interested in dual format discs and I agree.
