Yeah I read that somewhere. I was actually referring to someone a few pages ago who used that spelling.

I'm gonna put a little faith in WB here. There is very little chance that after the storm that erupted after the Theatricals were released (DNR, double-dipping, greed, etc.) that they would release the Extendeds with serious color issues. I just can't imagine that level of stupidity or incompetence.

The screen grabs do concern me but I'm not cancelling my pre-order. I hope I'm right.

That's the best way, not the only way. It may be tricky (it's been a while since I played with my TV's color adjustment settings - not sure whether that'd be enough) and it'll definitely be annoying, but feasible (as demonstrated by e.g. that AVS forum thread). What I mean is that you don't need to go back to a studio source.

Whereas introducing real detail where there isn't is quite another matter. You can't just tweak the Blu-ray.

Well I'm not going to start boiling over or shouting out complaints until we get some reviews. Green-tint or no I am still highly impressed by the level of detail in these new EE editions (far moreso over the TEs) and I have a feeling that WB will certainly impress us. I'm an optimist

Mithrandir is one of my favorite names for Gandalf.

(oh and Brodo was quoting someone who had it spelled Gandolph)

Really, so going by the complaints in this forum -- everything has an overall green tint/hue to it.

So why, if I manually adjust my TV to tone done Green hues, wouldn't that be a temporary solution?

Who's to say that the guy's computer monitor wasn't adjusted properly, and that he compensated by adjusting the color of the movie, just like some of the examples people have posted of "fixed" screenshots?
Possible but very unlikely.

These groups use remote encoding to speed up the process, and they release dozens of movies a week. It is all about speed so the last thing they are going to do is sit around writing an avisynth script to adjust the colours of a movie.

Because you are not just toning down green hues, you are adjusting every other color as well.

I found two version, one is 720P, another is 1080P, both from same source and the source I get all is rip from BD and it often get release earlier than BD release date.

I do download few other title before and compare with actual BD, all is near BD quality, at least it won't altered the color tones.

I didn't try the LOTR EE as the file size is too big and I not interesting on download it, as another 2.5 weeks the BD will be release.

Yep, and in those "5 second fix" screenshots people have posted, the only thing really needed to be done is adjust the hue.

Not saying you won't screw something else up (as IMO evidence in those 5 second fix pics) but for those who can't stand the "green tint" it's a quick solution to a problem that may not even exist!.

Altering the hue will not fix this problem. You'd probably have to adjust per-channel RGB levels to not create more problems than you'd cause with coarse controls like that, and my TV doesn't have photoshop's filters.

Yes, it's a good thing he changed his mind. Bladorthin would be a good name for a spokesman for Depends.

I think the detail in most of the screenshots is better than I ever expected, but the green tint is something I've never seen in these movies before, and it bothers me. Snow and clouds should be white, not green, I would think.

I didn't come in here armed for attack, and looking for something to complain about, I pretty much blindly assumed that this transfer would be awesome. If the green tint doesn't bother you, then that's great! I really wish it didn't bother me, but it does. All of you do actually see it though, don't you? I also realize that all of the complaining and moaning isn't going to change the transfers, but I do have an opinion of them.

Does anyone really know who posted these screenshots, and how true to the source they really are? I don't think so, and I really hope that the blu-rays are going to make us all very, very happy.

Well there is no green tint here at all.
And look at the paper and frodo's and gandalfs face the detail is impressive to say the least
The detail and sharpness is freaking amazing look at the trees and house on rivendell and the fight against sauron. Truly impressive. Never thought anything could look so detailed you can even see the small soldiers now
