Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011)

Day 1 buy. I liked Part 1 best, but my wife likes all of them.

I locked it in so I could get the coupon on amazon (I can always cancel later). If we get a nice price drop it's worth it...even though this was the weakest movie in the series IMO. But I'm a Johnny Depp completist, haha, and the mermaid night sequence was awesome!

Btw, 2-disc and 5-disc combo packs? Does that mean we have to get the 3D version to get the special features disc?

Well, at least there's no extra disc this time for the collection (which would suck big for the people that got the 7-disc trilogy.

$8 coupon (expires on June 15) for the 5-disc combo pack makes it $26.99, $1 dollar cheaper than the 2-disc combo pack.

I think the blu-ray without the 3D is 2 blu-rays and one dvd. Because on amazon it says Two disc blu-ray "slash" dvd.

"(Two-Disc Blu-ray / DVD Combo)" is same the wording on the Gnomeo and Juliet version that is only one Blu + one DVD and the current Pirates rereleases with DVDs added are all listed as "(Three-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo)". This leads me to believe it is very likely that this smaller 2D release is missing the disc with special features and you would need to get the 3D version to get it.

that would suck.

i don't mind spending extra to get an extras disc, but i don't like the idea of being forced into a 3d disc.

Doesnt match the other 3 but looks better than what they had originally which was just sparrow.

odd.... that skull one was one of the other covers (besides just Jack) that was on the "potential cover art" survey I took a while back, but since this new one came weeks later, I assumed they settled on Jack. Now Amazon pictures the skull one instead.

To be honest, I'd be surprised if they end up using the skull. If there's one thing studios love to always do, it's put the stars on covers to draw in the mindless general customers, rather than care what looks cooler to collectors.
