"Worth getting" is a subjective individual decision.
If the original screenshots which I saw someone posted pages and pages back are indeed accurate representations, there is another thing to consider -for this, as well as future remastered Blu-rays -

If you look at the (full screen) video comparison and cover the TE with a piece of paper, you will see, the EE looks normal as well. Without the comparison it looks just amazing.

There's no issue. The issue is in our heads.

This is from a non-studio source directly involved in the films and the BDs: “Peter and Andrew [Lesnie - the cinematographer] were involved in all decisions regarding transfer and color timing on these new BDs. Any alterations and corrections were at their request.”

Not that that's going to satisfy anyone who doesn't LIKE the new color timing, but there it is. It was directly approved by the director and DP.
I throw in the towel. What's done is done and at this point there is no use in complaining if this is how Jackson wants it now.

It will also be interesting to hear from people who attend the AMC showing of 'The Fellowship of the Ring' extended edition this evening. I'm curious if its color timing is the same as that which reportedly graces the upcoming EE Blu-ray release.

...and even then, caps only help in telling you what a screen cap looks like. You need to see the movie yourself, in motion. You know how they call them MOTION pictures.
There's too much green present to be a true cyan. This is more of a light Viridian/Spring Green/Sea Green. I agree it's not enough blue to rightly be called a teal. And while screen-caps aren't perfect and can't show you how noise and grain really look on a moving image, they show color perfectly. Seeing the colors in motion won't change them.

Agreed extremely unimpressive. I will wait for the remaster of the latter two films. Neither were near reference quality. The first film is going to greatly overshadow the last two from a detail perspective.

uh, disagree.

The latter two were pretty good the first time and none of those screencaps show any of the "composite" shots which suffered the most in the TE release.

The colors shifts apparently aren't as apparent in the latter two films as they are in the Fellowship comparisons.

Looks cyan over here, sorry. Sea-green is basically cyan anyways. Certainly closer to cyan than green. It's like me saying it's blue not magenta and you saying it's got too much cobalt to be blue.
