I'm waiting for the barnes and noble sale before I buy a lot. I'm new to criterion so I only own Benjamin Button but technically it doesn't count. When the sale comes around I will purchase seven samurai, sweet smell of success, night of the hunter, and high and low when it releases later in the month.

Do you have any idea when this sale begins?

that's a great average for Criterions! my average just for total blus in general is more than that! (see sig) and a lot of those i've spent less than $10 on. damn good job with that average Slugger

as for me...

8 1/2
Army of Shadows
Blow Out
The Double Life of Veronique
The Seventh Seal

only one i bought in 2010 was Last Year at Marienbad

hoping to pick up a few more during the B&N sale next month (or whenever it is)
I am sure the average is a little higher considering the gas I used to drive to three Barnes & Nobles in my area to take advantage of the "Buy 2, Get 1" free deal, 50% coupons, and membership discount. Plus the cost of the membership which has already paid for itself numerous times in 2011.

That was some sale. $33 for three Criterions!

Anyways my movie average is pretty low for the year. $592.02 bought me 46 films, $12.87 per. $94.04 bought me 6 TV show seasons, $15.67 per and I spent $15.88 on Rush: Moving Pictures - Deluxe Edition [CD + Blu-ray] which is considered "other."

$701.94 for 53 titles, $13.24 per.

23 for me. Dang. I would say most of those came during Amazon's spectacular sale, but a few were during the FB 50% sale, also. Good year for Criterion buyers so far.

2 nights ago I watched Modern Times for the first time. That was my first Chaplin, and I loved it to death. Fantastic quality for such an old film, too. Criterion did a great job with that one.

Nilbog! It's goblin spelled backwards!

Anyway, are there any Aussies here who take part in the barnes and noble sales? How much do they whack you for shipping?

I am planning to get a big lot of Criterion at the next B&N sale, I have almost made up my mind about what I really want to get but there seems to be a title I still have problems with. It is Videodrome . Haven't seen the complete film (Just segments from it) but it looks really interesting and seems a great horror title. Could anyone recommend a "blind-buy" at this point? Again, I think I have seen the most distrubing scenes and I can tolerate them .

If you like Cronenberg, I would say it's a solid film to own. I plan on picking it up very soon -- I hear the packaging design is quite nice, as well.

That would make the most sense because it started July 13 last year which was a tuesday so this year that tuesday would be the 12th

Can't remember if I asked this or even got an answer, but is the BN sale online as well? My parents are going to miss the sale, and they still have Pierrot Le Fou available online. I want it but I don't want to pay 40 some bucks for it. Call me cheap but I won't pay more than 30 bucks, including tax and shipping, on a single BD.

Dear Cheapskate,

Yes, sale prices apply on-line as well. The terms and conditions of coupons used on-line will be applied with slightly more regularity than in store, if the past is any indication.

Love the avatar Dosto. I drive past his grave site every month on the way to the clinic in Baltimore. My favorite work of his is posted below.

Yes because it's not like they have it every year around the same time of the year

why are the prices at B&N higher than the prices at other retailers(criterion.com/best buy)?

35$ for a blu is outrageous, even if it is a criterion blu.

with the upcoming sale, how much would the average CC-blu-ray cost?
