Is decreased sales or increased negative feedback the more powerful motivator?
If that's how its SUPPOSED to be (and all signs point to yes), then it will not be "fixed." And if it does end up getting "fixed", there will most likely be a replacement program. So why not just buy it if you want it?

Everyone with a projector. Actually, my screen is 106 inches.

The first thing that you (and all of us) should do before we demand a "fix" is confirm that the color grading is not in accordance with Jackson's intentions. Right now evidence is pointing towards the color tint being there by Jackson's design.

If after all is revealed in due time it turns out Jackson didn't want the color to look this way (there are several insiders who will get that information as soon as it's available), then you and a thousand other HT enthusiasts will make their voices heard here, along with Jackson's voice, and WB will fix the problem.

Only cancel your preorder if you feel that the risk of the color shift not being correct after all is reason enough not to buy.

You can get a 1080p projector that will throw a 100" image on your wall that will cause your jaw to drop... with a cleaner image than what you see on any plasma set from the same viewing angle. And you can do this by spending under $2000.

The trailer (which was up waay before the first screencaps appeared on the internet - I think I've had it on my hard drive since May 9) features the new color grading, complete with the green/blue tint.

The Trailer doesn't show the color grading found on the Blu-ray at all. Compare your screen grab of the trailer to the screen grab that's been shared countless time already (alternating between the TE Blu-ray and the new EE Blu-ray).

The Trailer has either the original color grading or it has new color grading WITHOUT the ugly teal tint. Perhaps the trailer represents how it was shown in the theaters last Tuesday? I could live with more blue a lot more easily than the ugly teal/green.

BTW, on a sunny blue-sky day, snow WOULD have a tendency to appear a bit blue because the white of the snow reflects the sky. The image in the trailer video, though blue-tinted, is a LOT closer to nature and realism than the teal/green abomination that found its way onto the Blu-ray discs.

That one's not a grab from the trailer. It's from a clip. If I'm not mistaken, it's one of the original clips released back in 2001 to promote the film. Watch the trailer for yourself - it clearly shows the new grading.

Or they could just say screw it and buy a projector.

I'll be waiting for this set to go down more in price, hopefully around the time when I get my "project" finished.
I'm probably going to have the Blu-rays with the EE DVDs and the Coasta Botes documentary discs in paper envelopes where the flap is. These extras could've been on a BD25 or so and still be 420p. Three discs instead of five. As someone already mentioned I bet New Line had a massive surplus of these discs.
Actually this release could've been 2 discs each for the three titles instead of five. BD100s for the films and BD25/BD50 for the extras. All it needs is a single firmware update.

Take 2 precious minutes and go to the site and watch the trailer. Yes it does.

If there is a legitimate REASON to complain, like the DNR in Patton, Gangs of NY or Gladiator that was NOT approved by the filmmakers, then yes. But not in this case.
Actually, it will get you the original version of Star Wars, unfortunately, that original version will be on a non-anamorphic matted widescreen disc. Lucas sure showed us!

I agree. My post was in response to the notion that there will be a new format, which obviously will only go up in resolutions, maybe 2160p. It must be able to reach general public to survive, and they don't normally own projectors or expensive 100" TVs. I think blu-ray will stay for quite while, so by all means guys get this new LOTR release.

If there were actually logical arguments from those defending the horrible green transfer I might not have canceled my preorder.

Approved or not, that over-saturated color look is not appealing to me at all. Say I have no taste all you want, very disappointing.

Nobody really does like it. As soon as they start the replacement program there isnt a single person here who wouldn't replace their disc. Deep down everyone knows it's ugly.

But, this color shift is just in FOTR? Not the other two movies?

If the screenshots for a replacement show improvements, (meaning that I think it looks better) I'll replace it. I won't just replace the discs because that option is available.
