Default Am I the only one?...

... Or does anybody else notice the recent price raise on the Sammy 1400 on Amazon? Actually its like all the players? And not only on Amazon. It kind of sucks because the whole WB news made me want to buy a bdp, and now I don't want to cuz of the price raises everywhere left and right.

Get a PS3 same price all the time

Nah, serioulsy... I have been using it since November of 2006 and am very very happy with it. It is a blu-ray player first then a game console too me, but I know that Sony will do anything to sell more, which means new firmware every so often, I mean its already Profile 1.1 and hopefully will soon decode the Master HD, I heard that a lot of the other companies producing players run into problems and then just bring out a newer, better model, so it seems like thrown away money to me if the machine you have will not be compatible 100% with whats going to come with future blu-ray media updates.

Just my 2 cents!

Yeah but I don't play video games and to be honest I don't know why some people say the PS3 is the cheapest Blu-ray, because I've been seeing the Sony 300 for almost $100 less (now it looks like its going $100 up after WB news). Plus if I'm only using a ps3 for blu-rays it would feel like a waste to me? and its expensive as heck!!! I'm only a college kid here

Looks like the BDP-S300 is the same price as the 40GB PS3 (which if you just want to watch movies is more than sufficient and offers you more than the 300)

At $399 you also get Spider-Man 3 and if I am not mistaken Sony still offers the get 5 Movies mail in rebate?!
Even if you do not play games, the PlayStation Network offers videos (trailers of new in theater movies, blu-ray releases etc and in the near future probably some other downloadable content such as movie Extras - as mentioned at CES - and who knows what else. Sign-up is free for the service.

But the Sony is profile 1.0 and the PS3 is 1.1 and in the future 2.0. Seriously, the PS3 is and will be the best Blu-ray player in the market for some time. I think the added future security would have me buying a PS3 every time. And if you don't play games there are still other cool things about the PS3. You can download movie trailers in HD and play them before you start your feature presentation. Although, I would hope that whomever is in charge of the Sony Store would update trailers more frequently and at a faster pace. I don't think we should wait a long time to get the good stuff like the new TDK or Prince Caspian trailers.

Okay I think I may decide to get one since its the big elephant in the room that I can't seem to hide from lol A couple pawn shop trips and a walmart 10% employee discount should do the trick

If you can get a discount on a PS3, then it's a no brainer. I got mine at a discount, it's one of the best purchases I've made in a while.
