MANY of the people complaining do not have the product in hand and have not seen it.

Personally after I see my copy and if it looks bad I will be the first one to complain, but it will be to WB directly where it has the best chance of doing some good.

Just like "You cannot judge a book by it's cover", "You cannot truly judge the experience, PQ and AQ of a Blu-Ray by screen shots on the internet".

And as KB said. Until we hear from WB and PJ on the subject. What is going on here is pure speculation.

Those screen shots may be right as far as the tint and iming. But it is meant to be watched in motion and the affect is different. But it may be the effect PJ wanted to achive, it may not. But the simple fact that the brain percieves pictures in motion differently make it clear that you cannot judge this on the screen shots alone.
I understand what you are saying, but the simple fact that the titles are tinted green when they never have before nor on the other two films in the release points to it being a botched job. I won't spend the money on what I know to be an inferior product on the hopes that there will be a recall. I can't do it. Especially not at the current price.

I was willing to give it the benefit of the doubt as a regrading, but the titles are the final straw. The proof is as clear as day that this BD truly isn't what PJ signed off on.

How can you say that? I bought it because I wanted it, no other reason. I also believe that this might be intentional and not a mistake and if its a mistake and a replacement disk is issued I'll just send it in, either way I can't lose. If I'm correct I think Ken Brown brought the same thing up.

Even not perceiving an error does not mean it isn't there. I also checked the 5 clips that were posted and the evidence was overwhelming:

The green was easily visible in all 4 of FOTR, even when switching to fullscreen - and even on a monitor that has already been set to reduce the green intensity a bit.

On the other hand the TTT clip looked fine to me and I was really questioning my sanity when I still thought it was from FOTR because I really couldn't see the overall green tint there. It looks completely different color wise than all the other 4. Only when I realized that the scene is from one of the other films it all made sense.

And that's evidence enough for me to say that something is so wrong that it affects my perception, especially since I found one of the 4 clips was exceptionally ugly.

Perhaps this whole thing is WB's reverse psychology marketing campaign:

Their master plan is to get us to buy this set just to see for ourselves what the heck is going on with the color. WB execs are no doubt trolling this thread, feeding the controversy, posting conflicting reports, and driving us crazy.

If that doesn't work, they'll resort to marketing this release as a new version of the film with an enhanced color palette.

For those of you who ordered the set in store at Barnes & Noble for the rediculous price of $45.xx, have any of you had any movement on your orders?

I don't think you speak for everyone on this issue.

There are people who aren't upset and don't care about the color regrade (green tint and all) and just want the EE's on BD.

There are people who aren't upset and don't care about the color regrade, but do care about the green tint (intentional or not).

There are people who aren't upset and don't care about the color regrade, but do care about the green tint (but only if it's an error and not what PJ wanted).

There are people who are upset about the color regrade because of the green tint (intentional or not).

There are people who are upset about the color regrade because they don't like any type of film revisionism going on.

And I'm pretty confident I missed some, but clearly not all of us are against the color change. Perhaps you fall into one of the categories that didn't want the color regrade at all and that's your right, but I'd refrain from making blanket statements on how everyone feels, or is supposed to feel.

I believe Barnes & Noble doesn't actually ship until release day
Oh and some of us got it for $41.99 due to BN memberships

NO. There are people who really truly do not see the issue to be as big a deal as you and other are making it out to be.

Everyone in your camp keeps on asking us to respect your right to not like it.

That needs to work both ways.

Most people DID buy the first set.

I am not one of them. For me it was always no EE=no sale and I am glad I stuck with that.

Just went and checked (hadn't checked yet this week); it's still sitting with the same shipping status: Expected Ship Date: June 28, 2011.

Got express (2-day) shipping (for free with membership), so I'm hoping to have it by the 30th, assuming it's not backordered.

Would be nice if BN.com shipped early but I haven't talked to anybody who has had a movie ship "early" (so it would arrive to you on the actual release day) from them.

Except for the fact that they have contacts in the industry who DO know PJ and have been told just that and their comments hold FAR more weight than yours.

However, all of them acknowledge that an error is possible from the time PJ adjusted the color to the time the disc was pressed. If that happens and an error was made I will be right there with you requesting a new disc with the proper colors. But until then I am going to believe that this is what was intended.

That was before I got suspended. My recent posts have defended my side and I am tired of getting told stuff like "they are just SAYING that it looks good so they can keep face" when in fact that so far everything I have seen looks fine to me. I acknowledge the green tint, but for me (based on what I have seen) doesn't even COME CLOSE to making it unwatchable.

Nobody has gotten any type of official statement out of Peter Jackson, Andrew Lesnie, or anyone at Warner Brothers. At this point in time anyone claiming the green tint is intentional or accidental is doing nothing but spreading their opinion. In no way should the statement be considered a fact until we get an official statement.

While as we get more and more "evidence" it may be easier to see the tint as being an accident, but again we won't know until we hear officially.

We may never get an official statement and this debate may rage on forever, but I see that as unlikely. Too much to lose, not nearly enough to gain on being silent on this forever.

I personally can see why they'd be silent before the release but I fully expect a statement by July 5th (or possibly July 4th, one of the first PR rules is to always release press releases at the end of the day on a Friday or on a holiday).

I just checked my Borders order. No change. I hope this time they actually have it in stock. Walmart has their copies already but they are ringing up close to $90. Funny thing is, my friend said there didn't appear to be any block on selling them now.

My Walmart and Target have always held release date. Makes me sooo mad when people go to retailers that break release date on things when I cant ever get so lucky. Seriously, I would like to get lucky JUST ONCE and get something before release date.

In this case though, my boxset was paid with amazon credit I obtained long ago and at this point I would just pay more.

When I watch this YouTube clip at 720p and in fullscreen (no white browser window to influence my eyeballs and brain), I see the green tint like nobody's business. The mist/fog is hideous. It sucks!

You left out a very important part of his post, which is on the first sentence:

Making it fullscreen on a 20"-40" monitor with lights on and normal house/office walls/lighting is in the same environment as when viewing the browser windows, etc, and won't change your perception: your eyes are still adapted to the prevalent color of the source of light. In a dark room, without lights, with a big screen covering your field of view, the screen becomes the light source, and the whitest/brightest parts on the screen, the reference white. If you wear slightly tinted sunglasses in the sunshine, eventually the tint fades out/is minimized from your perception.
