I should have clarified a little, negative or controversial press-releases usually come at EoD on a Friday, or on a Holiday -- as they'll get less coverage.

A press-release for something they were proud of, or not controversial would come whenever.

The WB.com store shipped mine already, it is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. I have resided myself to just enjoying the set as is now, and if this ends up being a mistake, than I will deal with the replacement disc on TFOTR. I honestly don't think it is too big a deal either way.

Mine shows out for delivery, so I should have it by the end of the day today.

Hell yes! With a $20 credit I had from buying a game from Amazon, that brings me down to $49.99 with release date delivery!

Can't wait to see the new and improved... or horribly mangled BD version.

I was willing to give it the benefit of the doubt as a regrading, but the titles are the final straw. The proof is as clear as day that this BD truly isn't what PJ signed off on.

The true facts are that until PJ and/or WB comes out with a statement you or anyone else can state whether it was a botched job or his intention.

Now whether you decide to spend your money based on the speculation in this thread and by screen shots that do not reflect what you will see by watching the full BD is of course your choice.

On the other hand the TTT clip looked fine to me and I was really questioning my sanity when I still thought it was from FOTR because I really couldn't see the overall green tint there. It looks completely different color wise than all the other 4. Only when I realized that the scene is from one of the other films it all made sense.

And that's evidence enough for me to say that something is so wrong that it affects my perception, especially since I found one of the 4 clips was exceptionally ugly.
You are making the assumtion that is is an error. We do not know that for a fact. That is and will be speculation until statments come out for WB and/ir PJ.

Now if those are enough evidence for you to wait then that is your choice. the one thing I know is those clips and screen caps are not reflective of watching the BD itself. Now whether you want to risk that or not is all up to you. You just have to ask yourself is whether you would go ahead and purchase it if PJ makes a statement that it was intended. Because if it is not there would surely be a disc exchange.

I came back to the internet after being offline due to moving into a new apartment and all and I guess I’ve missed a few stuff like this whole controversy with the color changing from Jackson! LOL

I’ve heard there’s some screenshots of the differences? I apologize but I don’t feel like going thru 40 pages of debates. So can anyone find me these side by side screenshots?

I’m buying this set regardless, i thought that the theatricals looked very nice. And i probably won’t care about the color changing but I’m just curious to see what the fuss is about.

Thanks!

This review has a good set of comparisons. It has what most will agree is the worst-of-the-worst and a handful of others which usually don't get shown much (because the overall issue isn't as obvious).

I'm sure the others will be posted soon enough, now that it appears the site is back up.

Agreed. That being said, I share WorkShed's theory that the presence of some green in the title and end credits give credence to the idea that the green tint isn't part of the new color grading.

Well, it's always possible (again, if my theory is correct), that some international editions will not feature the green tint. So far, we haven't seen screenshots that can be traced back to a non-WB edition of the disc with certainty (even the BD dump found online is supposedly released by WB). I'm particularly interested in seeing what the French edition will look like.

If an international edition turns out to be "green-free" (but otherwise featuring the new master and color grading), the likeliness of an error in the WB edition might be high enough that an official statement would become superfluous as far as confirming an issue (though it'd still be nice if it were to be acknowledged - again, assuming there is an error).

FWIW (i.e. not much ), I did actually cancel my pre-order (something I said to myself I would not do - but then that was maybe 150 pages ago).

While the new colors (green included) don't bother me, the possibility (however remote) that a non-US, non-WB edition may be less green is enough to convince me to wait. Turns out I don't want to get a botched version (if botched version there is), no matter how great it may look

Well, I preordered on Amazon with the $69.99 price. It's a good price and the other two look fantastic. I'm willing to make the gamble that there will be an exchange instead of a forced repurchase to get a fixed version (if this was a mistake).

I'm going back and forth on whether or not I will cancel. But I'll hold on this price for today.

On second thought, I can't spend the money right now and it will be on an even better sale in a month or so (maybe with fixed discs). Preorder again cancelled.

I don't even like Fellowship that much, just the prologue with the scenes of Elendil, etc. so could live with flaws in that one, though would obviously prefer it fixed.

I kinda wish they'd do a prequel on the Last Alliance, if the Silmarillion, as well. Still hate the idea of splitting the Hobbit up, but that's a long ways off.
