Personally, I think The Times got some facts wrong.

Quote:
As many as 20 companies currently part of the HD-DVD Promotion Group could be preparing to remove their names from the alliance’s 130-strong membership list, The Times has learned.
The HD DVD Promotion Group is not big at all. Certainly not 120-member big. The DVD Forum IS that big, however.

As far as the Japanese media group "considering" their alliance with HD DVD PG, that's also a weak newsflash considering that Japan is 95% BD and that the media group hardly released any media.

Sensationalistic article, I think.

:Where are they getting this "130-strong" membership? What a bunch of BS. They don't have nearly that many supporters... I thought it was more like 30 or so... well 28 now, minus WB and NL.

Perhaps the 120 long list cited included player and PC component manufacturers too? I bet there's a lot of piddly @ss little software companies and other types that were convinced to sign an alliance agreement of sorts with the HD-DVD group a few years ago. I bet they have no plans on the table for HD-DVD devlopment at this point anyway.

Sensationalist or not, this article will help the cause and drive the rats off the sinking ship.

20 companies include all the small independent studios that release under WB, Paramount and Universal, most likely irrelevent, but I am thinking these 20 companies are part of the Warner deal, like new line, bbc, discovery, magnolia, hbo, etc
