They've been posting on FB about this midnight release for the past 3 weeks or so. I haven't heard of any other location doing it.

The thing is though, this persons opinion is not shared by me. I would say it's noticeable in more like 10% of the film where it might be truly noticeable.

Again to my eyes the actual Blu Ray looks great.

It may be an error, sure. But I'm not convinced.

Hopefully PJ finally puts us out of our collective misery soon enough! And in the meantime huge swathes of people who've seen it will be able to weigh in tomorrow with their opinion. SO far people aare overwhelmingly pleased with the transfer (doesn't make it necassarily correct though).

I just hope Peter Jackson is not becoming like George Lucas in regards to the level of respect for his fan-base.
Speculation, speculation, speculation. That's exactly what everything you just said is. How's your book about Area 51 and the alien cover-up coming along?

Default Unbelievable...

I have been glancing over this forum for the past week and can't believe how many of the same people keep saying the same things over and over again. Why can't everyone just agree to disagree and move on. I have been waiting to here someone give a detailed review of the Costa Botes docs as i have not seen these, but it seems the ONLY thing everyone is willing (or unwilling) to discuss is the tint on this set. I am not going to even say anything about it as I have not seen it myself and will wait til I see it myself. I thought this thread was about the WHOLE set and not just the first movie. It seems to me that this thread has gone off topic and this whole tint issue should have had it's own thread from the get go. Just my opinion so please don't hate on me, but i came here to hear specifics of the whole set and not about whether this tint on only the first movie was or wasn't intentional and nothing else.

Thanks for reading.

Tomorrow will definietly be an interesting day. The war over Middle Earth begins anew. Forum members across the entire digital realm will be split into two factions pitted against one another in the ultimate text driven grudge match over opinion supremecy. It will be a long and bloody feud.

Which side will YOU be on? Choose wisely my friends... choose wisely...

Now that's a funny post, thanks for that. This thread has become way too anal and needed a post like this to lighten things up.

Fair point.

The only reason I have repeated the statement is because as soon as I saw it I felt that the set looked good and I wanted to address the fact that most of the detractors had yet to see the film in motion.

I don't mind people hating it, after they've watched it. I have found the whole point interesting on a technical level, it's been interesting to see what's been done and why it could be a mistake - I don't discredit that either.

But for now I too shall disappear into the mines of Moria as even I'm sick of defending the colouring! (Will keep reading though).

I wouldn't mind PJ acting like Lucas if he would just fix a certain scene in the EE ROTK...

Let me guess: the FX shot of Frodo running into Mount Doom?

I'm going to take a wild guess, and say the Gandalf/Witch King confrontation.
Did I get it?

I gotta agree with him. The screen shots i've seen on this forum and others, as well as this site's official review, do not have a GREEN tint on them. That's been driving me nuts that everyone keeps calling it green. It's a Teal/Cyan or Blue tint in some of the screen shots, NOT GREEN. These screen shots look nothing like The Matrix series. And I'm reserving judgement for when i actually watch the picture in motion on my calibrated screen. I for one can not wait to get this home and watch it for myself.

I just watched Fellowship EE and I have to say I am impressed.

I personally had nothing wrong with the Theatrical version as it was a huge upgrade over the DVD....maybe it wasn't perfect but I loved it. But this EE version is an improvement....the details are better.

As for the green tint thing, most of the time I don't notice it and when I do I personally don't think it is too bad to the point where it is unwatchable.

Overall, I love this release.

The boxset is available again on Amazon UK so that's any conspiracy theories about it being held back due to PQ issues out the window.

Another report of someone actually watching the Blu-ray and not finding fault with it anywhere near the extent that the F.U.D. from the screen caps has caused.
