I was going to pre order but I will just go up to Best Buy in the morning with my BB coupon and pick it up in Store, plus the manager told me they will have a lot of extras of the Set with the figurines, I would like to check that out, plus this gives me an excuse to go into the store and look at more BD's as well
Do you think that the Best Buy exclusive with the chess pieces will go down
in price quickly or it will be like the X-Men Wolverine set that was still in stores last Christmas?

Yep, more detail is confirmed. Those guys said the improvement isn´t consistent in some sections of the film.

interesting post from one who got the set from UK EIV set

Well, I live in the UK and I bought my set today.

I'm sorry, but it looks like people in the US (and possibly anywhere using the same discs) might have a faulty product.

The UK EIV discs are, from what I can tell, free of the green tint. Fellowship looks more natural and less graded than it ever has before. Detail is astonishing, colours are rich and deep. This is the most filmic this film has looked to me.

I've checked the "fade to green" scene. With THX mode turned on on my 60" LG plasma, it's actually a warm white - slight red push seen on the DVD. If I turn THX mode off it has the appearance of pure white.

Saruman's hair and beard appear white/grey as they always have done before.

The snow scene - more of a blue cast than before but the snow in the close up of the ring is white, not green, cyan or blue.

I also took a look at the "Fellowship of the Ring" title card and it also looked white.

Like I said before, the whole film looks less graded than it has done previously. This is perhaps most striking during the Council of Elrond scene and the scene on top of Orthanc. Saruman now has his natural skin tone (or something close to it) rather than the blanket green appearance that was on previous editions.

I wish I could provide proof, but I think this along side other UK reports might start to be proof enough. Have any of the official reviews used the UK discs??
I really do not know what is going on here

Professional reviews? There's no such thing. We are all critics. As far as "We will all be very happy"........Speak for yourself, again just as we are all critics, no two people see things exactly the same way. Be thankful for that difference before you make a blanket statement that "We will all be very happy".

$44.61 shipped from Barnes & Noble way back in April when I used a 50% off coupon. Let's hope I get it.

My UK version also just shows a more richer colour scheme as opposed to a green tint so I'm not sure what actually gone on here

Well wasn't it $119.99 before? I think it was, well now it is $99.99, still kind of a lot of money LOL, that is why I want to see it in person, I am not sure if the figurines are even worth it to me now, when I was younger I LOVED all that kind of stuff, now that I am older, I just keep asking myself, what the hell am I going to do with it.

Its quite consistent with what Robert Harris has been saying.

The Uk disc is the same as the US, what is going on is that people are watching the movie and saying "where's the problem?" because the so called green tint is hardly noticeable in motion.

From the ZonaDVD comparison of the Spanish theatrical versus extended:

theatrical:

extended:

Yeah, I see it now... I was wrong all along...

Vastly improved.

No, he says the controversy over the colour timing on the EE is 'much to do about nothing'. Which is correct.

They want something to be wrong. They're not happy unless they find something wrong with it, what ever it may be. They probably never buy anything cause there's always something wrong with it. Go form your own DVD/Blu-Ray haters club and stop wasting space here!! Sheesh!!

More and more damning evidence appears, like the zonadvd comparisons taken from the spanish fellowship of the ring extended edition blu-ray, yet the apologists continue to insist that the the fellowship of the ring extended edition blu-ray has no problem and that it looks great.

Like i'm sure many others here are thinking but are too polite to say, I'm beginning to wonder whether some of these guys are financially dependent on WB...
