Default My Paramount boycott is over...

Im no longer boycotting Paramount movies or blu-rays.

I trust, off what i have read, that any Paramount movies out in movie theaters now will be on blu-ray day-and-date with the dvd.

I'm going to see Sweeny Todd tonight, it is the first time I have seen a Paramount movie since Shrek the Turd.

I have seen no universal movies in over a year (except for american gangster, because my gf wanted to go, she had to buy me a blu-ray for me to go with her though, so i feel blu-ray came out ahead).

Hopefully I can go see Charlie Wilson's War soon too. I don't think im going to get my prediction right, oh well.

Sweeney Todd is Hands Down my Favourite Movie Last Year! And there was BIG competition last year, everything from Spiderman 3 to Transformers, and Lots of Others!

I haven't boycotted Paramount of Universal but I really do hope you are right about the day and date releases.

I would really like Beowulf, American Gangster, and Sweeney Todd day and date with the dvd.

Why have you ended your boycott? The Paramount rumor hasn't yet been confirmed...or is it just because Blu has a very nice lead now?

I have a simple rule for ending my Paramount boycott (which I've stuck to so far): When I have Stardust on Blu-ray in my collection, I will be willing to buy other Paramount products.

Why? A) it's my favorite Paramount movie this year, so naturally I want it, and B) having missed the D&D release and not being a Transformers-level blockbuster, I'm afraid it will be swept under the carpet to be a distant catalog release in the future.

As long as Paramount's defection costs me my favorite movie of 2007 (from them) on BD, it's going to cost them sales, period.

Although it'll be hard to stay strong if Transformers comes out first

That's interesting, I haven't boycotted Paramount but I have boycotted J DEPP.

That traitor bastard. Grows up an American, makes it big. He moves to old gay Paris and apparently becomes a Frenchie. Then he turns around and lambasts America for being America. SCREW HIM and if I ever see that F'r near me, he's going to hear a real American give him a real mouth full.

Well I guess since Paramount is perhaps hours away from joining us we should lift the boycott.

If they come over I'll buy Transformers. But as exciting as this (possible) news is, Paramount has had very few new releases that I'm interested in. To be completely honest, I'm more interested in their older titles. But most of those were Spielberg movies anyway.

I think given the current state of things, it's OK to stop boycotting Paramount and Univeral theatrical releases.

All Paramount (and Universal) has to do to get my high-def dollars is to release titles that I want to watch on Blu-ray. Let them start releasing and I will buy...

i boycotted paramount pictures not because they only released on hd dvd, but because of the reasons they only released on hd dvd.

it appears they have seen the fallacy in their reasoning and that is good enough for me to support one of their movies. i think they will support blu-ray very soon, even though they are just rumors with very substantial backings.

sweeny todd is intresting because the theater release is handled by wb (which i support 150%) and the blu-ray/dvd is handled by paramount. so by going to the theaters im supporting wb more that im supporting paramount, just in case paramout doesn't live up to the rumors, i don't feel bad about going to see sweeny todd.

I personally go watch movies regardless of studio because i actually have a card that i pay £10.99 a month for & can watch ANY movies i want in a month as many times as i like

So i kind of get a deal to watch movies & i pay the CINEMA £10.99 to do that rather than a studio, they already payed the studio & are trying to make their money back

You shouldn't feel bad about about watching Sweeney Todd. I myself never boycotted any of the movies in the theaters, but by default I boycotted their DVDs because I haven't bought a DVD since I went Blu. I was just wondering if I'd missed something. As far as I can tell all the rumors circulating are about the escape clause in the Paramount contract...I have yet to see anything say that they now see what they did was a mistake and that they are willing to rectify it. Until Paramount confirms that they even want to support BD again we shouldn't assume that they want to even though it would be silly if they didn't.
