Thanks for all the sympathy posts. Yeah, I lost a Mona Lisa for sure. Nice to be among those who understand. I saved up for a long time to buy that Kuro and got it at a price I could afford when they were on sale in late 2009.

No word yet from the insurance, they are still working on the claim. I have pretty much decided on the VT30 if I have to get something else. The VT30 may not have Kuro blacks, but it is still pretty darn good. Unless the insurance reimburses me fully for a replacement of a Kuro, I can't justify paying for another one at the prices they are going for these days.

If I had a Kuro and it was stolen from me, I would have been punching holes through walls. Hopefully, you kept the receipt of the Kuro from where you purchased it.

Well look at the bright side. You're going to get a TV with 17% more screen real estate and 3D capabilities.

It sucks what happened but no point on just looking at what your losing. Looks at the pros as well. With a legit guy to give you pro calibration(if you find you need it) you could be extremely happy with your new set.

Wow! I haven't seen the 111 being sold anywhere in ages, and these guys seem to have it, I'm impressed, a tad skeptical, but impressed if they do have it.

Well, if I'm going to buy it, I'll go to the store (since it's in NYC like me).

Thanks for posting this. I sent the link to my insurance to help with pricing the Kuro. It has been two weeks since submitting my claim and the they have come to agree the Kuros are hard-to-find items, which is delaying their evaluation of the loss amount. Should know more in a few more days.

The PowerSellerNYC has had Kuro's in stock since they stopped being made. The reason they still have them in stock is because of the list prices, they never put them on sale because they know they'll eventually sell out of them even if it takes 5 years. It's only warehouse space for them.

Man if I had 6Gs lying around I'd get myself another 111. I'm gonna go buy me some lottery tickets right now!

Man I would need to come into a lot more money to justify spending $6,000 on a 50". It gets to a point where its just plain ridiculous to spend that much more on electronics for the amount of improvement (Assuming your not wealthy).

Man, if I had the cash on me, I would literally run over to BK (and I live in upper Manhattan). BTW, anyone knows which is the best Kuro model ever made?

The monitors. The Signature Elite 101 or the KRP 500m. They both share the same panel, chassis and most of the same internal parts. Although the Signature Elite parts are all hand picked including the glass and the panel itself.
Next would be the Signature Elite 141. And then the elites (111/151) with the non-elites (5020/6020) after that.

Pro 151FD. Top of the line. 60" with speakers. Truth be told, the non-speaker model, sold as a studio monitor, is just as good.

Yeah, but since it's used, you have to be very careful.

Today, for some odd reason, the site is down.
