I'll be buying this series in parts . It's just easier financial as it seems the box set's just never go down in price that often or down enough to me. I'll be able to grab both parts for around $20 so that's around $40 for the whole series which I still have yet to see series 5 drop around or below. Not much for special features but for Who I'll just youtube them if they are important enough or something I really want to see and it's not in the singles.

Are the shorts in the box-sets? Like will "Time" and "Space" be in the season 6 box-set?

(ie: Was Time Crash in the season 4 set?)

Also, do you think seasons 1-4 will ever come out on Blu-ray or am I better off getting the DVDs?

Time Crash I believe was on the season 4 set but not 100% sure as I don't own it yet. Only the 2009 specials and upwards were filmed in HD so chances are very very slim we will get anything before that on Blu-ray so you are better off buying them on DVD.

I shall be buying Volume 1 and then selling it off before The Complete Season 6 is released. My predictions. Volume 2 will be released November 15th, with The Complete Season 6 released on December 13th in time for Christmas.

I'm just wondering how many discs the whole season will be this time? With the Christmas Special does that mean the BBC will be pushing a 7-disc set on us? I mean, 7 discs, for 14 episodes is more than a little excessive seeing as WB pushes out 22 episodes on 4 discs for most of their shows. Also, if A Christmas Carol gets it's own disc it better have both The Proms and the hour-long confidential! If anything goes missing like the press release says:

Oh, and Deleted Scenes this time please. And Time and Space. And the online prequels. And I'll be happy. Heck, make it a 10-disc set and include the full-length confidentials for once!

I believe the Christmas special will be on disc 1 with a few episodes and not it's own disc if past seasons are anything to go by.

Yeah, but... in the UK (not sure about US) Seasons 3&4 DVD's both had the Christmas special on it's own disc. Although what would be more logical would be:

Disc 1: Christmas + Episodes 1&2
Disc 2: Eps 3-5
Disc 3: Eps 6-7
Disc 4: Eps 8-10
Disc 5: Eps 11-13
Disc 6: Confidential

I wouldn't mind if there were twelve discs though, as long as they are in excellent quality!

I used to get all of my Doctor Who from WBShop, because they used to give WB Insiders a 25% discount... and sometimes even better deals.

I bought the Series 5 Blu-ray for less than $45 from them.

But... that discount is now down to 10%... so I don't know if I will be able to find as good of a deal on Series 6... but still I plan on waiting for the full set and not buying parts.

I started buying parts the year of the specials... bought the first special on DVD, then the next one on Blu... then when they announced the prices of the whole set that year, it only cost a few more dollars to buy the whole set than just to get the remaining 3 specials... so I learned my lesson about buying the partial releases.

My set should come tomorrow, in about nine hours. So I'll post pics and hopefully an unboxing video and then tell you guys what it's like.

Well I'm going to wait for the complete season before buying this. I hate all this season splitting.
People who buy these split season releases are only encouraging companies to release product this way.

BBCA are still releasing a complete season set after the season ends so these split seasons are not affecting a complete season set in anyway. You are getting a choice of getting the show on Blu early or just waiting for the season set. It's not one or the other.

Yeah, that part I like... we have a choice. Most other networks that have gone for split-releases don't necessarily give you another option lately.

With the old SD series... they did cheap out on Doctor Who with the audio... putting 2.0 sound on the early releases BUT putting 5.1 surround on the full season set.

I gather the Blu-ray releases will ultimately be identical, though, so no worries... and you can buy however you want. There were rumors that perhaps some of the extras might be different, but I'm not sure that will turn out to be true.

While I may grab the Christmas Carol Blu-Ray to obtain all of its extras, I will wait for the Complete 6th Series set instead of the separate parts...

I agree with what you say regarding choice and BBCA have been very open in this matter but as HDMe says other companies are not so open and are looking at ways to maximise the bottom line. Of course BBCA are just the same as any other regards this but as stated they are open and specific with there schedule plans unlike others who leave it up in the air so in effect force people who don't want to wait too long to buy product.
