Edit: This thread is rather unwieldy, and I'm having a hard time finding the split Aragorn shots. Perhaps they were deleted with the thread close. If you PM me links to the images (seperate files) I can put them through the scopes. Last edited by BleedingEdge; 07-04-2011 at 01:25 PM. Reason: additional information |

A few months back I would not have believed LOTR would have the same fate as Star Wars. I am even thinking Peter Jackson did this green thing on purpose to create the same controversy that Star Wars creates to this day with all the unnecessary changes. This is very sad because I still remember the first trailer I saw of LOTR in theaters, and how amazing the golden colors were on this film, it looked so special and different from others. To see people play with this things...

Why would Jackson want to alienate his fanbase as much as Lucas has? He is counting on them to see The Hobbit.
I watched the first disc of RotK last night and it is reference quality. It also looks more detailed than the TE Blu-ray, which is awesome. |

For some reason this directors dont want people to EVER have complete, definitive and untouched versions of their films, I think its so they can keep releasing them and filling people with hope one day they will do it right. |

Me to on the FOTR tint. I still think there is too much hue / sharpness in the tint in the shire. but that happened on the DVD release I believe. It just seems too bright and my eyes cringe. Personally I dont believe I should have to adjust my tv because of how a BRD is made, so I just deal with it. Because aside from that, the clarity and colors elsewhere were stunning. |

And who gets to decide what's "right", if not the people who originally made the movie?

The problem is that you think Jackson is doing it purposefully, when no evidence suggests such a thing. He has always been excellent to his fans. That can't be said for Lucas to some people. I personally don't have a problem with Lucas because I like his revisions of the OT and I will never see the untouched versions. |

WorkShed,
Yeah. That's what I'm talking about. Again, when any one speaks Elvish in Fellowship, the subtitles have a slight green tint to them...in comparison to the Towers and King EE's subtitles where they're pure white. Again, I like the new look of the Fellowship EE but I don't think Jackson wanted the subtitles to have green tint to them, considering the rest of the Trilogy doesn't. |

They should release a regular version and a playground version. |

Obiviously this thread is full of people who wanted to see the Extended Editions of Lord of the Rings. It was what we waited for! Then, as of late, there has been much debating and arguing over the quality of FOTR. (I happen to love the new visual take on the movie). I keep seeing posts that people want to hear Peter Jackson thoughts on this and they want him to say it is what he envisioned or wanted. There in lies the irony ... I have heard it said ... "Peter Jackson mentions that the theatrical editions are his Directors Cut of the film and that is how they should be viewed."
Quote "While Jackson considers the theatrical releases of those three films to be a final "director's cut" within the constraints of theatrical exhibition, the extended cuts were produced so that fans of the material could see nearly all of the scenes shot for the script to develop more of J. R. R. Tolkien's world, but which were originally cut for running time, or other reasons. " No, the quoted text is black, with a slight green tint in case you were wondering ![]() |

Wow--I hadn't even realized that the subtitles (translating Elvish) show the green tint, but it makes sense...and pretty clearly demonstrates what people have been saying, that a green overlay was (accidentally) placed over the entire film. Furthermore, I know from other postings that the captions for the hearing impaired show up as white, and look especially, glaringly white compared to the rest of the image. I wonder if there are closed captions that appear at the same time as the Elvish-translating subtitles...THAT would be interesting to compare.
