Has anyone heard of if, or when, there might be a Blu-ray release of The Great Escape? I’ve been ever so patient!

Same here and it's the main reason why I've been holding onto the 2-Disc DVD with the original monoaural audio track. Great film and wondering when it'll be out on Blu-ray disc format. Hopefully it won't be released in 2013 and obviously shouldn't be a WalMart exclusive.
Maybe a 4K master with the theatrical audio in lossless with all extras from the 2-Disc DVD? If so, SOLD!

Now The Great Escape should look and sound great if it is being given the full TLC treatment when restored for Blu-Ray - Panavision and 4-Track Stereo. It will be well worth the wait. Originally released in 1963... 2013 would be its 50th Anniversary... a possibility?
