Default Sorry I couldn't open a thread for this question

Hello,

I couldn't open a thread for this question. I am noob so I didn't know where to place this post... this topic has a lot of posts, so I try this one. Hope you can help me!

I bought a bundle of blu-ray movies.
2 Avatar and 2 True Grit (2010). I'm not sure if these are real, so I took some pictures and I hope you could help me and tell me if my blu-ray's are fake or not.

First:

On the case it says ''Real Blu-ray disc''
while it normally is ''Blu-ray disc''.
the case is dark blue, while 'normal' cases ar not that dark as these ones.

The backside of the blu-ray is also darker and it has a white ring. I can see that there is a code on it, but don't know how to check it.

The cover looks good, especially the back of it. It is very clear and everything is printed correcly. But the ISBN is the same for both movies (same ISBN for 2x True Grit and 2x Avatar). I thought that every single movie has his own unique code? Or am I wrong? :P

When I play the blu-ray discs, they all are very fine. The PS3 shows the 1080p code and you can see a picture of the movie when you put the disc in (with dvd's you see just a picture of a yellow disc). There is a menu and the quality is just like my 'normal' blu-ray movies. But I still have my doubts...

I took some pictures and I hope you can help me!

(PS: I'm not from North America, but Europe. This subforum has the most posts, so I posted this topic here.)

Don't pay too much attention to the stripes you see on the blu-ray discs. That is just reflection of the roof. :P

Bootleg? And by the way, this thread is for films in the Criterion Collection. Maybe start a thread in the general forum?

I can't start threads, that's my problem...

But could you give more details about it or are you not sure if it is an bootleg (because of ? )? :P

Today, I've preordered my 2nd Criterion which was High and Low. Outside of Yojimbo and Rashomon, I haven't seen Kurosawa's other works. Hopefully, its a nice blind buy.

So these will be cheaper than the 50% off deal, right ? Most criterions are $39.99, even with 50% off sale they will be $20 each.

Just came back from B&N, where I placed on hold copies of The Makioka Sisters, Insignificance and People On Sunday, as well as ordered Naked to be held on the 12th in anticipation of the 50% sale.

The woman who usually tells me about the sales was there and when I asked her to hold the 3 CCs, she got all excited and told me about the upcoming sale and wanted to make sure I was purchasing it on or after the 12th. I kinda played dumb because she was so excited to tell me, and I asked her when the sale was supposed to end. She scanned one of them and looked something up on the comp. and said it should last until 8/1.

Someone else said 8/2 a few pages back, but whatever the case may be, The Battle of Algiers will not be included in the sale on 8/9, nor would a pre-order of any August title.

Last week, I received a 20% email from B&N for 4th of July, I think, and when ordering 3 movies at B2G1 free, they came out to $17 and change each...not too shabby...

Also, for any iPhone or Android users, download the free app SHOPKICK.

There are 2 B&N coupons on the app (if you make B&N one of your favorite stores) that you can activate on your phone and show the cashier. One is for $5 off a $50 or more purchase and one is for $8 off a movie over $40 (39.99 CCs don't count, I asked!)

Happy shopping everyone!!

I've mentioned it before, but I hope Criterion attempts to get the rights to Hitchcocks 9 that the BFI have been restoring. http://www.bfi.org.uk/saveafilm.html

There is a recent article about the new scoring for the films.

Watched Pale Flower the other night. AWESOME! Was on the fence about it. So glad I dove in. Now where can one go to find out about the game played in the movie. It made me curious about it.

The sad thing is I finished all the Criterion's I had waiting to be watched. I need some more!

Heh, I'm trying to get caught up but I don't like my chances.

I did finally have a chance to watch The Thin Red Line all the way through last night and procrastinating did serve me well in one sense - if you have to watch a movie while actual aerial bombs are exploding in your neighborhood TTRL is not a bad choice.

Is the 10% coupon good for the total order amount or just one title? Where can I find this coupon?

This is 15% off one item in your cart and it was still active as of an hour or so ago.

The 8/2 part most likely means 8/2 at 2:59 AM eastern time, so depends on where you live. So 8/1, and a little bit of slack if you order online.

I'm going to buy most, if not all of my Criterions online. I went to my local B&N, and the selection is a lot better online. I'll probably hit the store the day before to check the selection out again. My stepdad has a rewards membership, so the shipping will hopefully not take too long. And 90% of the blu rays were $39.99.

I just bought Makioka Sisters, People on Sunday, and Insignificance from B&N using Buy 2 get 1 free and 10% off order with free express shipping for $59.90. So I have basically gotten all the titles with this purchase and two before it before the sale for what will turn out to be around $12 more than if I had waited. Much better than waiting for the sale and getting back-ordered and other shipping delays. Only thing sale is going to get me is if Leon Morin Priest pre-order is allowed. If you are waiting for the sale, look into the offers now and avoid some potential hassles.

Is this code good for more than one purchase? I already made one B2G1 order, can I use it again? Could I use the 15% off 1 item coupon if the 10% isn't good anymore?
