![]() Man I would need to come into a lot more money to justify spending $6,000 on a 50". It gets to a point where its just plain ridiculous to spend that much more on electronics for the amount of improvement (Assuming your not wealthy). |

Once you see the Kuro in action, you'd understand. The Kuro line wasn't really meant for the average tv buyer.

No I understand they are amazing TVs. I've seen the 151 multiple times in person as my cousin has one in his living room. I had no problem with the Kuro pricing when they were still available. But paying that markup for a discontinued TV is ridiculous. Just like I wouldn't spend $4,000 on a Sony XBR960 in mint condition in some warehouse. I could understand buying a special Fender guitar that was discontinued at a markup, as the guitar will still hold its value whether its 10 years or 50 years down the road(Guitar technology doesn't improve). But TV technology is always progressing forward which means you are investing a significant amount of markup money in something that is aging(even though it is great at what it does). What makes more sense, spending $4 grand on a VT30 now and taking the extra 5-6 thousand and seeing what it can buy you in 3 years or spending 10 thousand now on a 60" Kuro? |

Well obviously its meant for "AVoholics". Even the OP isn't willing to lay out another $6 grand for one. I was really addressing the sane population. People without an serious addiction. Didn't know what side of the fence you were on. My apologies.

Fair enough. No apologies needed. You didn't do nothing wrong (that I'm aware of).

It's a lot harder to shell out that cash when you know what they were going for in the last year or so that they were still being made.
Under $2,000 for the KRP-500M. Wish I had the money on me at the time. I hope the 2012 TV's can hit 0.001, that would be awesome as that's when I'll finally have around $3,000 to lay out for a new TV. |
