Blu-ray Science
We do what we must
because we can.
For the good of all of us.
Except the format that's dead.
But there's no sense crying over every mistake.
Amir just keeps on trying to drown in the lake
And the war's finally done.
And Ken reaches for his gun
Sad it's not the format still alive.

Don't forget Face/Off was about 3 weeks from release on Blu when Paramount f*cked us.

Penton said he met Bill at CES and we should look out for what he has to say.

That was before the latest article.

Id imagine Paramount would want to announce going blu and release Transformers very shortly afterwards. They will probably delay announcing their plan to go blu until Transformers is ready. Then they can claim they got "overwhelming support" on their return to Blu. I cant imagine it taking that long though. They wont change the video but might add PCM. But adding PCM is as simple as it gets, no?

Universal hopefully will announce in early Feb. Gives them time to let the Warner announcement die down a little. And time to start getting their production plans in gear. Id imagine they'd also want to start with a big title like Bourne.

Might as well get their biggest titles out soon and ride the "new release" wave before these titles get forgotten in favor of newer movies. I expect to see Bourne and TF right after these studios announce.

Agree because there isn't much going on right now in terms of blockbuster releases.

I think M.Bay would insist on a re-encode of the video for Blu which I would have no problem if this delays the release so he can do it right
