It would stupid of them to maintain a server for a game with hardly anyone on it while a new game suffers online congestion; better to retire the old game and put the server to good use on a new title.

Just sayin'...
Or just consolidate them all onto on server. I actually still have Madden 10 because it was the first in the series I really liked and was holding onto it in case 10 sucked.

Just another reason to not show any support whatsoever for EA.

I can understand demos shutting down. (I would assume once retail has been out a couple months it would) But shutting down games at least 2 people log on to play is just ridiculous.

They love to justify the price of a $60 retail game with stuff like development and SERVERS yet they shut them down when people still want to play. There should be a law requiring them to buy back any game they shut the server down for (at current market price, a lot under $10). I mean I feel bad for kids who are behind the release date curve and get these games later on used or handed down and then can't play half of them.

i agree 100%
BF2MC has been out since 2006 or so......time to retire it.

im a fan of when madden 12 or nba 2k12 come out to shut down the previous games servers within a month of a new game release.
either play the new game online or play the old ones OFFLINE ONLY

So why in the hell they put in the back " Enjoy the online play with thousands of gamer`s " , this is about principle , thing that EA dosen`t have , instead what they should do is TO DO BETTER GAMES , i toke them to 4 months to acknowledged a problem on the FIFA 11 , and 2 months on the NHL 11 , do you really believe that this company is interested in what you think ???? No they aren`t , just check the EA forums and you would know what i mean

So how are people suppose to get all the trophies for a game if some of the trophies require online matches or something like that. is it just like "hey sorry buddy, but if you havent gotten the platinum trophy yet you never will!"??

Pretty much. I never support anything EA anymore. Also if you're going to shut down the servers then they need to pull all those old games off the shelf because all the advertised features are not correct. So when I look up at the top of the screen at the games I shouldnt see NCAA 09.

I just started playing NCAA 10 again recently, and tried to log on to the EA Lockers thing to get the official rosters from someone, and they've ALREADY shut down the lockers.

Kinda frustrates me, but if not many people are playing NCAA 10 online, then I understand shutting it down. It's not cost effective, especially if people aren't still buying the DLC for 10.

I'm just hoping they haven't shut down the lockers for 11. I have that coming, possibly today, and want to get the official rosters for that as well.

My utter frustration though is that I'm going to have to have online access (re: online pass) to simply get the rosters.

Hopefully I can get a 7 day pass so I can get it, because I'm not essentially paying 10 dollars to get a roster that's free from a friend, because I never play sports games online.

Because when they first released TWO YEARS AGO that applied.

Do you get mad when you look at an original DVD release and it says on the back "cutting edge technology"? lol

This will be like several other topics in the PS3/Gaming community where the percentage of people affected by the event is totally dwarfed by the percentage of people griping about the event.

My apologies to any real person that was playing one of those old games online.

Doesn't affect me one bit. Only EA game I play is Madden. Once the new game releases I never go back to the previous game.

im still bitter ea bought the nfl license. i never played madden from 9-9-99 (the day i bought my dreamcast) until madden 06 came out and i had no other option.

as far as this years madden, im inclined to buy USED and just pay $10 for the online pass.
$10 > $60 ea will get from me

....or send out 20% off coupons to active users of the games they are turning off. The fact is, they have no business charging $60 for a game using virtually the same game engine as the year before, with new player skins in the first place, but this is EA we're talking about.....

Its their company and their product, they can market and price it however they would like. If the consumers are consuming then they're doing something right.
