The word is WWE is planning to make more of these "rivalry" releases. Rumor is Austin vs. Rock is next.

Damn, I kind of skimmed the title of the thread and thought they were going to have a rematch in October!

Ah well, I'll pass on it. I was, am, and always will be a fan of Bret Hart. Seeing this now would just make me mad all over again.

I think Austin/Rock will be released before Hart/HBK.
I'm not going to buy this on blu, however, I'll def. buy on dvd.
Don't really see the need. Can't see how they'll be able to clean up the matches since they were shot on video.

Hart/HBK is already being worked on. Interviews have been done and a release date has been set. Austin/Rock is in the planning stages I think.

Wrestling is one thing I still wouldnt buy on blu, Its one genre I still like buying the DVD's of, that being said I'm only intrested in 80's/early 90's stuff so an upgrade is not an option. I probobly already have all the matches and can watch the new interviews on youtube when they come available so ....pass.

Haven't bought a WWE title in a while, are they still blurring the hell out of their old footage to remove the WWF scratch logo? And muting any mentions of "WWF" or "World Wrestling Federation"?

Because if they are they seriously need to make a deal with the World Wildlife Fund to preserve their archived footage, it's ridiculous.

Yes, still blurring the scratch logo.

they had a deal once - that is why they could use wwf in the states and canada but vince screwed around and started using wwf all over the world which violated the deal. that is why they can't use the initials. originally they were not allowed to use anything wwf-related(no old school logo, nothing) but the conditions were relaxed a little for older material.

this could be an interesting dvd especially since bret and shawn are on better terms now. wonder how much they will say about the time and vince playing them against each other.

WWE signed a deal with the Pandas in 1994 that the initials would be promoted in North America, but WWE got so big like blonde_devil said, they started using it all over the world. But they seem to say World Wrestling Federation as much as possible than WWF, but then the start of the Attitude era they changed the logo and promoted everywhere saying WWF.

So basically Vince screwed himself and surprised they got away from it for 4 years.

But be glad they only have to mute the "F" and blur the scratch logo rather than all their logos. Also the blurring seems a lot better on the eyes now. Initially it was poorly done (specifically with the Wrestlemania Anthology) with rectangles, circles, ovals, squares covering the logo, that use to jitter and shake totally distracting the footage. Now the blurring is blended with the logo and looks a lot more professional.

In the UK however Silvervision are releasing Tagged Classics with old ppvs releasing as a 2-pack (example Royal Rumble 1999 and 2000) and they are exempt from blurring the logo, all content is unedited, no music dubs, and no blurs. Only thing is the outer packaging saying WWE, along with the disc and menu. It's kind of a mystery as to why they're exempt, and no confirmed answer has been given, some say because Silvervision is a 3rd party distributor and WWE has no say as to what they could release with their footage since Silvervision paid for it. Another is that they're direct copies of the VHS.

EXACTLY why I still have the original DVDs for Wrestlemania 2000, X-7, and X-8 because the blur RUINS those events. The new blur technique or whatever isn't as harsh as on the Wrestlemania Anthology Boxset but I would honestly consider REbuying that set if they got rid of that blurring.

Most people I know still think of wrestling when someone mentions WWF so I don't know what the wildlife guys are trying to accomplish here.

This sounds like a good release. I like how they add the "as they are both now WWE Hall of Famers" as if that matters.

I'd rather see Austin vs. McMahon myself. Best feud in WWE history.

I think i just got a boner looking at that list. Disc 1 matches are perfect and exactly what I wanted. Wondering about disc 2 though..no Survivor Series 93 match, they could have had Bret vs HHH from Raw 97 as a blu ray extra etc.

I can't wait for this release. I'm going straight to the iron-man match and then watching the main feature.
