I saw my first 3-D

movie in a theater tonight (the "Dollar" theater... so the 3-D experience cost only $3.75). The movie was THOR. The reason I saw THOR in 3-D, was because the 2D version started 40 minutes later, and it was late already....

I liked THOR. Natalie Portman was good, and the the lead character did well. BTY, they are showing a short clip after the credits finish rolling, from The Avengers, the next movie that THOR will be in. The clip has Samuel L Jackson.... And the fallen brother.

About 3D... in one scene it was raining, and it looked like it was raining in the theater itself. So here's the thing, I thought that awkward. I don't want it to feel like it's raining in the theater as I'm watching a movie. I certainly don't mind watching it rain on the screen, but, not in the theater.

Based on my 3D experience with THOR, I give the 3D Experience a thumbs down. But hey, I'm over 50, so maybe 3D is perfect to mass market to the younger audience.

My ultimate movie experience is not having things jump out at me.

Surround sound is about as 3D as I'm going to get. And for most movies, they don't even get the surround sound right on the home video releases --- I guess the budget to engineer that correctly is taken up by the Marketing Dept. !

I dont get that point ? In my eyes thats awesome use of 3D, thats what a 3D movie is all about, as thou your in the movie itself, how can you not like that, or am i missing your point ?

the sequel for thor will be in the new avengers movie that is coming out next year. in the meantime you can catch captain america. he will also be in the avengers next year.

thor does not have the best 3d. I would try transformers or green lantern for a 3d expereince.

Well, for me, it's just a matter of taste, and 3D doesn't taste good to me. My movie-going experience can have sound, but other effects, like rain... well I do not expect my movie going experience to mimic a multi-media theme park ride. Anyway, in the movie theater, I can't feel the heat of an explosion, or the chill of a wintery blast... so, for me, just great cinematography will do. Along with a fine soundtrack, and acting that's multi-dimensional.

It's not my intention to thread crap. I went to my first 3D movie by chance, and that happened to be THOR. And so I gave my impression of it.

For those that love the 3D experience, I have nothing to say about your love for the medium. No argument here.

I do see where your coming from thou, i have a few friends that also dont like the 3D so much, by the way im almost 48, i dont mind the pop out stuff, but i like the depth of the 3D more.

What has age got to do with it? I'm over 50 myself and I think 3D is the **it. Not sure why the illusion of rain in the theater would put you off on 3D. To me that enhances the experience. Perhaps giving it another chance with a different movie would change your opinion.

I've stuck around for the end of all these new Marvel movies to see the sneak peaks (except Hulk, where it was moved to before the credits). However in Thor, the cinema I was in turned the lights on and began closing the curtains. So I saw it, but it was washed out and bumpy...

Lol. Same thing happened during the Avengers ad at the end of Cap. America. Before the next Marvel movie comes out I might have a talk to the manager...
