I disagree Walt. No matter if the JP set sells good or great, it looks like a Brand NEW Trilogy is being worked up by all parties involved.

But, as the article says, it goes back to the history of the first three before it branches off. Johnston's words, so I assume that means they want to make sure there is still money left in the series, and the blu-ray is a great gauge of that.

Agree if the blu-ray doesn't sell that well they may have second thoughts on starting a new trilogy while if the blu-ray is a huge success chances are we would see a 4th one as soon as possible.

What are some new dinosaurs we would potentially see? I love the T-Rex and all; but I was happy to see a new big bad dino come into play. I think that's what I liked bout JP3.

We had the Spino, who was much bigger; and the scene with Pterydactles (I know I didn't spell this right). The scene in the birdcage, the scene on the river and Spino/T-Rex fight really seemed to separate itself from The Lost World.

Here's hoping Universal can continue to wow us and deliver something new and fresh for JP

And here's hoping they don't use too much CGI.

What would you suggest they use instead? Puppets? Stop-motion wax figures? The CGI is what made the dinos look real.

Unhappy

Hollywood is always looking to take finished franchises in a "new" direction. That phrase, along with the now famous "reboot" alarms me. With studios, being them movie, games, etc., wanting everything to move in a new direction, how far departed will they go before their new direction is barely a part of the original? It seems Hollywood has run dry of fresh new ideas that don't involve re-treaded rom-coms, embarrassing remakes, and American versions of Asian Horror. Paul Anderson wanted to take Resident Evil along this route, and ended up with a film that barely resembled Resident Evil. I went to the threater wanting to se how the game's story played out on film, and I got some hack director's version of it. Ridley Scott, a true giant, took Hannibal in "His Direction" until it omitted most of Harris's novel. When is enough enough. As long as Hollywood can squeeze the Jurassic Park teat, they will. A Robosaurus Rex, maybe? Trycybertops? I wouldn't put it past them.

I've been looking forward for a fourth movie for a long time. If for no other reason than I want to see the dinos wreak some mass destruction on human society. After "The Lost World," I really expected it to happen in "JPIII," but was dissapointed that it was just more of the same.

I would also hope to see some logical closure to the series, but it wouldn't surprise me if they leave it open for a fifth movie, a sixth movie, etc...

I don't think a reboot would be necessary. But it wouldn't surprise me if they rebooted it anyway.

Yes, if anything, I hope they go all CGI-happy. It's not the CG that's bad, just the implementation, and in Spielburg's hands, the implementation has always been awesome.

Duh, they could just use live ones - trained no doubt so they don't hurt any extras or the guy who was in The Fly, but live nonetheless.

As far as it stands, High Def Al, this is not a reboot. It's a sequel, and the beginning of a new trilogy for the series. So you are correct about possibly leaving it open for more.

The combination of puppets and cgi made them look real, I find the effects in JP1 the best by far. They used big puppets for the T-rex attack on the cars wich made it look very real. JP3 had much more full CGI scenes wich made it look more fake.

It's the constant switching between puppet and CGI that makes you forget you are looking at an effect. 100% CGI still isn't completely realistic in most circumstances. Transformers for instance could have done with some animatronics in certain scenes.

Steven Spielberg Says ‘Jurassic Park 4′ Hopefully Coming in 2-3 Years

At the Adventures of Tintin panel at the 2011 San Diego Comic Con, Steven Spielberg gave an update on the future of the Jurassic Park franchise. Spielberg revealed that they have come up with a story for a fourth film, and they currently have a writer working on a treatment. He enthusiastically added that “and hopefully we’ll make it in the next two or three years”.
Awesome!

CG has been one of cinema's biggest blessings and biggest curses

Full size models of the dinosaurs should compliment the CG

As good as CG is, it wilk NEVER be as good as reality. I will NEVER be 100% fooled into thinking CG is real. It still looks fake and always will. Rise of the Planet of the Apes is a perfect example of over use of fake looking CG. I hated how most of the Green Lantern corps were CG. They looked fake.

The over use of CG is because of lazy directors. Zach Snyder cant even film a car driving for 5 seconds without making the car CG

There were great Scenes from Jurassic Park 1 like Nedry and the Dilophosaurus, Grant and the Triceratops, and the Brachiosaurus tree top scene that highlighted perfect use of full size models

I hope they use models for every close up scene. They even need to have a full T-Rex model to fool the mind some. Switching back and forth between model and CG like what was done in the T-Rex cruiser attack scene in JP1 would do wonders

I fear that if JP1 were made today it would be 99% CG

Coming from anyone but Spielberg I would pass the news off as rumor.

Can a mod edit the title? "Jurrassic" grinds my gears.
