Any insiders want to comment on the speculation that a certain Microsoft alternative may announce BD support next week?

The above is a plug for Sony Electronics; therefore I expect to see some Sony water bottles for my mountain bike in the mail a.s.a.p.

P.S.
The gadget to close out the NBC National News was not thought of as “impractical” by my wife…………. but rather cute.
That's alot of advertising for Sony on the NBC (Universal) nightly news. Looks like Brian Williams, who gets his paycheck from NBC/Universal, is very interested in that Sony display.

Any word on Fight Club?

I want it, but I also want the right package, so i'm willing to wait if Fox is trying to do 2.0 stuff.

I'd also like to see Weinstein (hdd exclusive, i know) do Grindhouse right. The complete theatrical experience with trailers, both movies, missing reels, plus extras all on one blu-ray disc. Considering that movie underperformed at the box office, i can't believe they messed up the DVD release(s) so badly.

He expects to get some water bottles. At least two. A Para mountain bike water bottles.

The gadget at the end? Looks like someone may make a format rollover soon.

This question is for all insiders, with emphasis directed to studio execs:

Now that Blu Ray is the dominant format for High Definition Media, are there any plans to persuade the consumer to move towards Blu Ray by limiting Standard Definition offerings?

For example, rather than produce a single disc edition, a two-disc collectors edition, and the Blu-Ray edition (generally comprised of the same two-disc collectors edition material) of a film, only offer a single disc version of the film and the Blu-Ray edition on new films and release older catalog titles, such as "The Last Emporer" on Blu Ray only.

Thanks for your time, and I look forward to your response.

That sounds like a good idea. I wouldn't be shocked if they begin to do delayed releases like what occurred with DVD and VHS

My question for Insiders: Are we going to see lower MSRP's soon for new Blu-ray discs?

With the format war essentially over and the BDA wanting to now target more of a mass market and convert DVD sales, I've gotta believe they realize NO ONE will buy into Blu-ray when they are eating $35 for a single movie. Even some of us early adopters that love the technology have to be selective with movie purchases because of the expensive costs of discs.

I have a distinct feeling this is coming. People have already reported worse performance with some DVDs on upscales.

Guys, be kind to Ken G. in some of the other threads here. Fact is, he is/was just a messenger for the HD DVD word. I don’t recall him ever stooping to the unethical behavior and tactics of a major spokesperson for a software company at least before he was *reassigned*....to a secret mission.

For instance, Ken G. never attempted to expose the identity of insiders that wished to remain anonymous (specifically paidgeek and talkstr8t) as did a junior grade V.P. on more than one occasion on a protected “science” forum.

Various forms of *planned obsolescence* are being considered.
It will all take time………just like the WB decision/announcement.

Thats fair enough PM. Do you think he will be as vocal about BD when Uni switch.

Sounds like a plan. Hopefully if Ken G. gets a whiff of this forum he might actually get excited at the number of Universal BDs people want to buy once they make the switch. I've got at least a dozen I'd like to own that have already been released on that other format...

Way to extend the olive brance Penton. I have a feeling that the days of Kenny G. posting about attach rates, standalone sales, and that gamers don't watch movies is over, am im correct?

If its somebody's job to promote the format the best they can, Ken Graffeo did a great job prmoting hd dvd, he hid HD DVD's big flaws very very wll. Knowing that the end is here, I would welcome him into our big blu family if he decides/universal decides to keep him on board with their blu-ray production. God knows the man can promote the hell out of things and i would be happy to have him on board.

Ok...from now on Ken G. is allright in our book. I hope that everyone catches the drift. No need to alienate the Uni execs..

Does (Did?) Universal have a broad agreement with HD DVD, or some of their high-def releases have specific windows?

If Uni were to start supporting Blu-ray soon, what's the likeliness to having their crown jewels (like the Bourne trilogy) on Blu this Spring?

What kind of titles could we expect from Universal for their first Blu waves?
