If there is a new PHYSICAL format, then I'd keep my BDs with unique packaging, my Best of Travel BDs, (hopefully I'd have more by then ), my DCAU Blus (I believe some of them were digitally animated AT or NEAR 1080p like Justice League and BB RoTJ). I'd also keep my Revenge of the Fallen Big Screen Edition, you know, just in case. I'd probably keep most of my collection but if something better came up it would be hard not to upgrade...

All but the few in my sale thread.

I keep hoping we'll see a 4K (4096×3072) physical format in the next 5-10 years, but I'd settle for 2160p.

Just like they have DVD upconverting to 1080p now, I bet they'll have Blu-ray upconverting to 4K in the future. It won't be quite as good as true 4K, but it'll look better than standard blu-ray looks.

Thumbs up All.

All of them, except for my blind buys. I have about three of those. That's why I buy them, to keep them forever. I don't have the money to throw around to make impulse buys, I have to be careful. And once I like a film I will continue to like it and I will not want to get rid of it.

Star Wars Episodes II and III, since these will be the definitive releases of the films... in terms of video anyways...

Knowing Lucasfilms, they'll only put the films out in Trilogies or the Complete Saga from now on, forcing us to buy AOTC and ROTS in 1080p forever onwards.

I'm keeping all my Cartridges, CD's, Games, DVD's and Blu-rays.

I ain't the kind of person that sells it for a newer format.

There's probably a handful that I'll weed out and get rid of, but for the most part, I plan on keeping all of them.

Will most people even be able to see the difference on a normal sized television?

A lot of people own an HDTV and I don't see them nor me buying a 4K, sure the resolution's bigger but there's not much improvement that's worth buying.

I was just replying to HD Goofnut's post. I am completely happy with my 1080p plasma. I would think that to really get much out of 4K, you would need a 100" screen and would need to sit very close to it.

Ditto.
Along with the same sets of........
Gone With The Wind
The Wizard Of Oz
The Sound Of Music

And the smaller collector sets of......
Casablanca
Bridge On The River Kwai
African Queen
Dr. Zhivago

And my collection of digibooks (about 9 I think).

Actually, most of my collection.

All of them. Every single one. Even the crappy ones. I don't buy blus to one day get rid of them years later for nickels and pennies. For me, this is the last format, so everything is being kept.

I wouldn't get rid of any, but if I had to choose one I would have to go with Let Me In. That will be with me always.

It depends on what the new format is. When I went from DVD to Blu-Ray, my intention was to only buy personal favorites. So basically if there was impending nuclear destruction and I could only save a few movies, I would just take my whole Blu-Ray collection as opposed to sorting through my DVDs (whch are a mix of favorites, blind buys, and why-the-hell-did-I-ever-buy-these?). So yes, I intend on keeping all these for forever, or at however
"forever" applies to foreseeable future.
