Most of the Eagles contracts are backloaded so they really are going all in for this year, maybe next year as well. After that, they would be way over the cap and will have to start trimming a lot of fat. Also, after this season they will need to decide between Vick and Jackson. They won't have money for both.

It's ok, he's not going very far into the playoffs with Romo at the helm.

Yeah, I'd like to know that as well. I am hoping Pioli and CO. are actually trying to get some good players still. Or, maybe they'll use the extra cap space they have to re-sign all of their young, core players. News is hard to find on the Chiefs.

Teams like the Chiefs, Bills, Bucs, etc. seem very content in building their franchise's through the draft. They might add a nice roleplayer here and there, but drafting good talent seems to be the priority.

So how are the Eagles going to pay D-JAX with all the money they've spent? they must be at the cap by now. Even if they make later years in the 10+ million range thery are just hurting themselves more.

I wonder this myself. If the team is backloading all of these contracts then why would you as a player sign another one knowing that the likelyhood of you getting to the large money portion of that contract is pretty slim. Unless theyre giving out a tremendous signing bonus.

Well the Ravens will be the first to test this very new Eagles defense (in the preseason) so that will be fun to watch.

I think it's time to start pre-season playoff prediction so here goes:

NFC:
North: Packers
South: Falcons
Worst: Rams (I'm not sold on Kolb yet)
East: Eagles
WC1: Saints
WC2: Lions (If Stafford can stay healthy all year. Their D-line is scary now)

AFC:
North: Ravens (FINALLY!)
South: Colts
West: Chargers
East: Patriots
WC1: Steelers
WC2: Jets

Superbowl will be a bird bowl. Ravens vs. Falcons or Eagles.

I have to say this year's FA signing has been interesting. It is gonna be hard to see who does very well this season. Good luck to all teams that signed top players..

Free agent safety Michael Huff has agreed to terms with the Oakland Raiders, a source tells ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

A little-known rule prevented the Raiders from re-signing the 28-year-old Huff last season, as much as they would have liked to, an NFL source told Schefter.

Any player whose salary escalated at a higher rate than 30 percent from 2009 to 2010, as Huff's and other players' did, was precluded from signing a contract extension with his team, according to an NFL source.

Huff was a dynamic safety at Texas who helped the Longhorns win the national championship. But he struggled at the start of his NFL career as he was forced to play out of position at strong safety, where he lacked the size to take on tight ends and offensive linemen.

But after moving to free safety in 2009, he became the playmaker the Raiders thought they were drafting when they selected him seventh overall in 2006.

The agreement comes two days after former Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha signed with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Lions sign LB Stephen Tulloch.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this season.

The cap requirements are effective starting next season. As for the Chiefs, they are easily one of the winners of the off season. Altough overshadowed by all the blockbuster moves, landing Steve Breaston and Kelly Greg where great moves.

The Lions will indeed have a good season as long as QB Stafford stays healthy. I like there chances with their D.

I agree it could be a real possibility, but at least they didn't overspend and pay max deals per player.

The Ravens and Falcons have no chance of going to the Superbowl, the Eagles maybe...
