I definitely will be picking this one up when it gets released. I am now pre-ordering all future steel book, metal slipcase releases from JB Hi-Fi as they seem to eventually fetch a bundle. Does anyone know whether the Saving Private Ryan metal slipcase is rare or not?

Regards.

Yes, it is very rare. The SPR metal slipcase sold out in the first month of release from memory and I haven't seen a single sealed copy (saw an unsealed copy at Sanity several months ago at full price of A$39.99) since then. This is in Perth, WA

unfortunately that is where I bought mine from (Sanity) so it was already unsealed but it is a treasured possession of mine. Do you have many steel books?

Hi there, maybe you bought the copy I saw at Cockburn Shopping Centre I even took it to the counter to ask about price just to be sure the price is correct but was told the stickered price is correct. I hate buying from Sanity because they open all their titles. I know not everyone will agree with my way of thinking but there is no way I am paying new prices for titles that I considered used since they are all open. The members at the Australian DTV forum refers to the "Sanity" stores as "Insanity"

Compared to the amount of steelbooks the hardcore collectors here have, I don't have that "many" steelbooks

Don't ever pay attention to JB specs. They are worse than Amazon, case in point English (Dolby Digital 5.1 DTS HD) audio.

Nice to see WB entering the SteelBook arena here in Australia. A shame they just can't get their act together with release dates. I would've gladly bought locally if this had only been announced and subsequently released sooner. As it stands I got the Canadian steel on release and for a cheaper price too.

It'll be in stock today so I'm sure someone will have picked it up and photos will be online within the next few hours.

My copy came today. Pretty stoked about having another steelbook for my collection. However, the samurai scene on the cover, like all other versions, would have made a much better Steel.

$22 shipping to norway seemed abit expensive, are they overcharging, or will it be that much either way ? If there is a cheaper shipping, would anyone care to help me out ? Thanks

Our national postage carrier charges extremely high rates. It makes helping international members out difficult at the best of times. Even retailers are slugged with high postage charges.

A package of 250-500g (which is what a single SteelBook would be with adequate protection) to Norway is $21.25 via regular post and $27 via registered post. Going on that, JB is just charging the national carrier rate so yes, it's expensive but no, they are not overcharging you.

I suggest you buy two or more copies and request they box the package in the free text box at the end of the order process. You should find they comply with your request and the multiple copies will reduce the per steel shipping cost. You'd have a couple spare for trade but that would get you out of paying $22 for just one steel.

This would put me over the tax free limit, and so I would get 25% tax on both steels AND on the shipping cost, in addition to the customs fee. Just the one then. And I thought Norway was wicked expensive on shipping

Thanks for the info though

if you don't have this yet, I suggest you go into the link below and get yourself a copy, with 20% off this comes to $12.78!! it had been around the $40 mark for some time but I saw it on the site today and was real suprised and just ordered myself one. my local store doesn't have it but it may only be available online, the 20% off sale ends at midnight tomorrow 7/12/11.
