It's a general discussion thread about the Star Wars movies. It was initially created when a mod or admin took several posts from the Blu-Ray thread that were technically off-topic with regard to the Blu-Ray release, generated this thread, and moved them here (it looks like I started this thread since one of my posts is the first one in it, but it's actually a post from the BD thread that got moved here with many others).

Since that time, some discussion has occurred here, and further posts from the Blu-Ray thread that went off topic have been moved here as well.

I'm guessing that you being subscribed to this thread has something to do with the fact that posts from the Blu-Ray release thread (which I assume you are subscribed to) got moved here.

Anakin may have been redeemed at the end of Jedi, but he was a broken man. What people fail to realise when they moan about HaydenGhost is that we were ALWAYS looking at an idealised version of Anakin as a ghost, i.e. he wasn't crispy fried & had all his limbs intact. Regardless of whether he's young or old, Hayden or Sebastian, he looks very different from the eggman revealed aboard the Death Star II, so why should Luke recognise the ghost from Adam? He knows that that is his father, end of story.

So IMO the idea is sound but the actual execution of the HaydenGhost effect sucks. Using a ****ing outtake, George? For shame. If there's one thing, just ONE thing that they fix for the Blu-rays I hope it's that.

The Anakin ghost change in ROTJ did not bother me and it's a good change for the special edition. Why it does bother some fans I don't understand.

Because the continuity is messed up. Both Yoda's Obi-Wan's ghost looks like they did when they died, but does Anakin's look like himself when he died? Yes, until Sebastian Shaw was replaced with Hayden Christensen.

Technically, there was still a continuity issue with Sebastian Shaw at the end since he had hair, no facial scarring and all of his arms and legs.

What makes more sense: Luke seeing his father as he did before he succumbed to the dark side and got all burnt to hell, or old Anakin without any scarring whatsoever? It doesn't make much sense either way, but thinking about it, I prefer the former to be honest.

And neither Yoda or Obi-Wan turned to the Dark Side. It's been explained thousands of times at this rate.

Anakin turned back to the light as Sebastian Shaw at the end of RotJ and that's how he died. That was the whole damn point of the entire saga according to Lucas. The redemption of Anakin through his son.

Why should his "ghost" then revert back 20+ years to when he was Luke's age?

You know what hasn't been explained?

How people can look at the Anakin who slaughtered women and children and beheaded a prisoner before turning to the dark side and think 'oh look, it's the good Anakin'.

I can't stand RotJ so they could insert a flannel-clad George ghost in there for all I care but the notion that Hayden somehow harkens back to Anakin at his most pure is just plain laughable.

If Luke is the only one who can see those ghosts, and they are formed from his own memories of how they looked, then he would have no idea of what 'young Anakin' looked like, whereas he saw 'older Anakin' (Darth) when he removed the helmet.

C'mon George, doesn't take a scientist!

Yea, this is 1 of the most undesirable changes in the OT to match the PT, I really did not like that at all for the same exact reason, but I am Fan of Star Wars and I still can't wait to see these on Sept. 16th on my own system, I will admit, I like all versions, OT, 97 SE, 04 SE, I like them all LOL, sure it would have been very nice to have all versions for each film, like Blade Runner, but if we don't, which it is obvious we are not, then so be it, I am not going to let this ruin the rest of my life, like some act around here LMAO!

Anakin returned to the light side of the Force when he saved Luke, therefore Sebastian Shaw's ghost must be at the end of ROTJ,not the young Anakin.Young Anakin didn't die in Ep 3.

I agree with this. Because if not then why not show Obi-Wan as Ewan McGregor? Their ghosts resembled what they looked like when they died.

I will be buying the complete set, but I do have issues with the SE's and these are things I would like to see changed back.

-Boba Fett's voice, if in cannon you have to make up some story where he gets his throat attacked by a crazy person or what ever, don't make his voice the same as Jango, very un-intimating.

-Take out the singing alien and cartoonish musical in ROTJ it ruins the entire mood of Jabba's palace. It really just takes me out of the mood.

-Let Han shoot first

-And lastly the ghost thing. Other than those things I loved the changes in the SE, (though I still think he should release the unaltered as well like Blade Runner and many other films do) but I think it will make it better doing those things to it.
