NO, it is not that bad, the HD audio on this Blu still sounds way better than the original mono, and it is only noticeable in 3 scenes.

Oh hey, there's only noticeably botched audio in three scenes. Yeah, no reason to fix that, right?

What I don't understand is why do people take the time of day to come on a forum and post about something that they are content with?? If the mistakes in Conan the Barbarian's soundtrack don't bother you, that's great! You already have the disc, you're happy, why are you wasting your time?? I know why, it's because you're a 13 year old troll!!

Now these mistakes are significant. They're not just some minor glitches. Entire pieces of music are missing, we are talking about minutes, not seconds. We come on these forums to A, inform others who have not made a purchase yet and B create a big enough voice to get to the studio. Bottom line is this, if Universal doesn't hear from the fans of their movie, they will not fix the problems.

So what exactly do you have against this that you feel the need to troll the forums?

No. To me it's a highly enjoyable popcorn flick. It's also a product of it's time, and it's a time both in cinema and in my life that I remember fondly. One of the posters above nailed perfectly how I feel: the very best thing the film has going for it is Poledouris' (RIP) score. Powerful, epic movie music.

And this release is just not doing it justice.

And again, I don't begrudge anyone wanting to own it anyway. I get that. But I find comments which seek to let Universal off the hook for their goofs (or to chastise posters for pointing them out and wanting them fixed) counter-productive to the purpose of having a cinephile home video format like blu-ray.

Thank you, That is a very level-headed approach to this debate. Perhaps you should be the one to spearhead this campaign?

I don't see any approach of anything, the guy clearly wasn't a big fan to begin with so would never know the difference. He is like one of those people who want to bash everything the first chance they get. It is a "popcorn" flick to him and he wouldn't have noticed in the first place. like me, that there are any audio issues.

Everything nowadays, and I mean EVERYTHING, on the internet is complaining. That is all it is now. The guy just wants to complain.

Sent an email myself now. Nothing over the top, just requesting that they consider adding back in those particular pieces of the choral score.

Hey if they do, great. If they don't, it was 3 mins of my time. Guess we'll have to see if they think it's worth their while as they get email from more people.

Not sure if this was previously posted or not, but over at Digital Bits this was posted today.

By the way, just a quick Universal/Conan BD update. The studio is currently investigating the reported audio errors on the new Blu-ray and will offer additional information as they have it. In the meantime, you can e-mail them at USHE.ConsumerRelations@bydeluxe.com if you have any specific concerns. And of course, we'll post a full update as soon as the studio determines the nature of the issue and what their corrective steps will be.
I would hope everyone would email them. They can at least correct it for future releases. Whether they offer replacement deals will probably depend on how many people request a fix.

Forums are not just a place to complain about things, they are a place for people to have open conversations about particular topics. This topic is Conan the Blu ray movies and there is plenty of EXAGGERATION on both sides.

Nobody is saying that Universal is perfect or that we should be kinder to the multi billion dollar studio, however the importance of the difference in audio is subjective. You wanna complain and write letters go ahead, it can't hurt, but I do see some people here exaggerating the flaws and scaring some people from supporting an awesome blu ray release.

More than just the audio issues the lack of content makes the release less than stellar. And has led many to import copies from overseas.

But as I understand it, the Fox/MGM versions have the same audio issues, don't they?

The imports are due to the extra features. Commentaries etc.

Many....maybe some of the hardcore people on this forum but I would not say that this represents a large portion at all. Heck many of the people here on this forum not only imported the Conan but also bought the Universal copy. We are a small hardcore group.

I am a HUGE Conan Fan and honestly I could care less about special features. I am a bare bones kind of guy most of the time. I have a huge movie collection and it's hard enough to find time to watch all my movies but also trying to watch all the special features which are usually boring to me is even harder.

My avatar is Goliath from Gargoyles, a show that they started to release on DVD and never finished. Honestly I am just happy when they release a movie I want on the format I want. Special features rarely catch my attention.
