Too bad Legend of Korra only has 24 episodes planned :-/ But maybe they'll release a blu-ray together?

That because it was initially meant as a mini-series with even less episodes.
But they expanded it with more episodes.

Not sure if that would simply mean they cut the original episodes in half, or that they expanded on the story.
But who knows, maybe if it's successful they'll order even more episodes.

I believe Korra's had 26 episodes ordered, with the initial 12 being one season (and one story line) and the other 14 being the second season.

Also, I would purchase A:TLA on Blu-ray in a heartbeat for the sound alone. To hear the "Last Agni Kai" music from the finale in DTS-HD.......

Seconded to the max. I adore A:TLA, and I'm very pumped for Korra.

If Korra releases in 16:9 HD and they decide to BD that ish, I'm willing to bet the crazy sales (assuming the new series is as awesome as we all know it'll be), will warrant an A:TLA BD release.

I would lose my mind if that happened.

This show is amazing! I cannot get over how great the story is, from beginning to end. It's better than most live-action shows, and I think it absolutely deserves a Blu-ray release. Hopefully the Legend of Korra does well and that makes them want to rerelease Avatar.

Question

Yes, just to get back on this for a little:

Of course I'd want these to be on BD, and maybe with "Korra" they would indeed come to BD, maybe even this or the next year.
Then again, it could also take a lot longer than that, so I'm actually considering getting the DVDs from Amazon UK.

Now, it was mentioned before that the DVD-releases actually had pretty bad image-quality, or at least a lot of edge-enhancement.
Well, was this aimed at the US-releases or would it count just as much for the UK-releases or what's the story on that?
Cause I don't mind getting good-quality DVDs if it's the only and best release out there, I do mind if they're even bad for DVD-quality.

So what would you advise? Not sure if anyone has any of the DVD-releases here or anything.
But if so, let me know what they're like to watch in detail and all that.
I did watch them, the one time I watched through everything, with downloads which were enjoyable.
But maybe if they're higher quality, flaws would actually be more noticeable, I don't know.

Too bad that there is so much "Dragon Ball" on Blu-ray, but not this terrific series.
I mean, seeing the similar popularity or at least success and the type of animated series they are.
But yeah, again, they're probably waiting for "Korra" to coincide with...

Greetings!

I wish this would come out on BD. The show really is amazing, I've only seen the first 2 seasons or "Books" but it's already in my top 5 for best animated shows of all time. Great writing, and great characters.

It's too bad the live action movie was so mediocre. The CGI and sets were pretty good but the acting and casting choices were pretty bad for the most part (among other issues)

As much as I would love to see this series on BD, I don't see it happening unless the new series does very well. I still wish they would continue releasing the collector's editions of the other two books (seasons), but with the failure of the live action movie, I doubt that will happen either. It is unfortunate because the collector's edition looks so much nicer than the regular release.

EDIT: Has there been confirmation of a sequel to the live action film? I would for sure not watch it, but it could be good news for the animated series fans as far as a BD release or collectors editions of the DVDs
