Great! - I'd say that is a "fer sure" that Warner will follow with both in the US as well.

...But what about the UK?

I would have thought that, being a totally UK product in every sense of the word(save for the releasing studio), such information as this would have taken first place here in the UK.

Sorry Mexico but that's how I feel about it.

While I can't fault Mexico for getting it(any country getting such a high profile movie--and in 3D too!--deserves it), I would have thought that JKR would have had something to say about where it should be released first.

That's my two pennies worth.
John.

Hopefully Warner Bros spent the extra money and finished off the 3D conversion for Deathly Hallows Part 1.

We're definitely getting part 2 in 3D when it's released in UK! It's listed on Amazon but you can't preorder yet!

Edit; My mistake, that's the US import!

It isn't so much that they don't care about the UK. It's just that information in Mexico always leaks out early. Most of the early information we get is from Mexican retailers who, fortunately, can't keep secrets very well.

I'm sure the UK and US will get the first Official announcements from the studio itself.

Yes.
the understanding was at the time that the first one came out that the conversion was only partially done, and there weren't enough conversion houses free to finish it satisfactorily (WB having gotten a ton of crap from all sides on CotT).
So they ditched the 3D release, and just switched gears to converting the 2nd part, with the statement that they hoped to finish the 3D on the first part at a later time. They were supposedly doing conversions of ... either all or finishing the conversions of 5 and 6 at some point.

I am sceptical of this release, but, think it would be cool. I just sold my Ultimate Editions, since that term has become kind of a joke, and was all set to await the actual ultimate editions that are likely in a couple years, but I might... pick these up as I'd like to see them finish these conversions. (got a tidy sum the bay for the set of 6. Should hopefully cover the future set)

Correct. Which will make this the first live action movie on Blu-Ray 3D that was not in 3D in the theater

Hopefully it won't be the last

That's not really entirely true - Germany has been cranking out cheap-o conversions of all kinds of live action films...

- But this will certainly be better than those.

If I remember right, most of the disc pressing plants are in Mexico and China, so that may explain the leaks.

Warner Brothers, who produced it and has sole distributing rights and is an American, company distributed it where they wanted first. I think you are right though and with America, being second not Mexico.

I emailed Best Buy and informed them about their website error.

Deathly Hallows Part 1 3D Bluray showed up correctly...but they were showing Deathly Hallows Part 2 3D Bluray as a DVD.

They have now fixed it. Both movies are now listed at Bestbuy as Bluray.

Sounds like now is the time to buy, all the Potter movies may be pulled after 12-29:

Quote:
'Harry Potter' DVDs and Blu-rays are about to get struck with an Evanesco spell. Warner Bros. announced on Monday night that it will stop shipping copies of the eight 'Potter' films to stores as of Dec. 29. That means if you don't get 'Harry Potter' DVDs during the holiday season, you likely won't be able to purchase the films again until Warner Bros. does a special re-release in the future. (Thankfully, this moratorium doesn't affect the digital platforms.) If this sounds familiar, it's because Disney has used a similar plan in the past for its archive titles. The 'Harry Potter' DVDs have grossed more than $5 billion worldwide for Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.

They won't be "pulled". They'll be available after 12/29, but after that date WHV will stop shipping to retail. Retail will then sell through whatever stock on hand. It will be months before you have trouble locating a particular title, though I would recommend picking them up sooner rather than later...

Pulling off Harry Potter is a terrible thing to do.

But I am sure WB will milk Harry Potter fans with special editions for years to come.

United Kingdom Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Hi,

Have just discovered that HPatDH parts 1 & 2 are both up as pre-orders on Play.com and both will be 3D. The release date is 2nd of December 2011.

Although I purchased Part 1 on blu ray as a 2D, I will definitely be replacing this when it's released.

Is that good news or what?

John.

I seen Part 2 was up for Pre-Order in 3D.

Looking back now i see Part 1 also. Because they have the old part 1 steelbook artwork on the outside picture i must have passed it by.

That is good news. Not so much the price tho

I know it will drop. HMV have 3D part 2 for £19.99
