Not sure how dented the corners were, but a little bit would be acceptable to me. Boxes would have to be pretty damaged before I did anything, and I'd probably opt for a partial refund if the discs were undamaged.

I mean you can get slipcover blu-rays from HMV, Amazon etc but it'll always be a gamble even with their slightly better packaging, and whether its included at all. The only real way to absolutely guarantee a slip & undamaged, is store bought.

I've been meaning to place an order for a few Blus on Amazon, saw that it was to be fulfilled by IndigoStarfish, so a little off topic, how long do they take to ship items out? Let's say the Blus were shipped on a Wednesday, will they arrive on Saturday?

Chip, they say they will re-imburse you 1.26 mate but it'll actually be whatever the postage costs you, I returned a damaged dirty dancing and they refunded me the 1.70odd it cost so dont worry about that.

I have sent around 5 things back to Indigo and actually have not ordered ANYTHING from Amazon UK since then as they pissed me off that much.

I usually accept a little bit of crushing with slipcovers but with slipcases I prefer them to me 100%. Looking up at my DVD collection I can see quite a few DVD TV boxsets with the cardboard spine has been crushed and I usually accept these. It's the crushed corners I can't stand.

RuLeX, thanks for the info. I've been pretty lucky compared to you over the last six months and this is the first time I've wanted to send something back. I did save over £18 on this order so I shouldn't really grumble....

Did you have to tell them you paid more for P & P or did they work it out themselves?

You have to remember that most of the time, it's Royal Mail's fault!!!!

Yes we all know jiffy bags are far from top quality...but I'm 99.9% sure that they don't take any care whatsoever with packages in all the sorting offices around the UK.

I haven't had any problems with IndigoStarfish for a long while, and even when I did...if I asked for a refund, I always got all the postage returned also.

How is it Royal Mail's fault? The packaging should protect. One can't expect a company to gingerly handle such items, when they're dealing with countless thousands of letters and parcels, being delivered throughout the country each single day. And the final stage of delivery involves the item usually being dropped onto the floor through a letter box at least 2.5 feet high.

I'm not saying it's entirely RM's fault...but i'm pretty sure how they handle parcels and packages in the sorting offices won't help.

As for parcels/packages dropping from an oh such great height crashing to the floor...I don't have any such problems, as I have a post box fitted to the outside of my house, beside the front door

Thru editing, I'd added a bit more info to my post. About how you can't expect a company to gingerly handle items when dealing with countless thousands of items each day. One has to be realistic, it's the packaging that's at fault.

Chip I think they just worked it out for themselves from the printed label the post office stick on.

I cant blame royal mail, the jiffy bags they use are no good. Example - my back to the future trilogy arrived in a jiffy so inadequate the damage had to have occured actually PUTTING the package into it, I nearly tore the card trying to get it out of the jiffy bag, complained, got a replacement, IN EXACTLY THE SAME SIZE BAG, CRUSHED ON ENTRY. Complained again and luckily got money off (as they do not send a 3rd replacement) and as I had paid for it with a lovefilm voucher it ended up costing me £3something @ release date.

The same happened with dirty dancing which was the last thing I sent back, I ended up getting it for free, also with the pretty hate machine nin remaster, arrived digipack squished.

I been doing all my ordering from Amazon US since and having to pass on any cheap deals from Amazon using a 'cutting my nose off to spite my face' kind of backwards logic

If it was delivered through amazon.co.uk with their different packaging instead of indigostarfish, would it even fit through your letterbox? Because it doesn't for mine.

I'm honestly relieved if something doesn't fit through our letterbox, least then you know it wasn't the floors fault.

Worst packaging I've ever had was Christmas time with the Star Trek 365 book. The Postie left it outside the front door because he was too ashamed to knock. The package itself was a mixture of parcel tape and cardboard fused into a bastard hybrid of a box. The book was crushed completely like it had been dropped by a bomber from several thousand feet.

I can almost guarantee that if it had been left somewhere else several blocks of houses would have been cleared and the Star Trek book would have been obliterated by the Bomb Squad in a controlled explosion....

Exactly. Unless it's recorded delivery or other similar thing (which costs extra), the post man can leave it outside unless they do what they should do and put a "couldn't deliver" thing through the letterbox. But sometimes they post those without even trying to deliver. So if they leave it outside it can get taken/stolen/rained on etc. because of the oversized packaging amazon.co.uk use.

Indigostarfish packages do fit through, unless it's something bigger than a normal 1-3 disc Blu-ray/DVD, so you don't have those problems. And if there was damage caused, which I think is rare, you could always get it replaced/returned.

Sorry to revive this dead thread, but I require some assistance buying from Indigo Starfish, because for a while now I've had my eye of a couple of box sets, both of which are the basic kind with a card slipbox and Amarays on the inside, but am of course a bit worried about Indigo's packaging.

Recently though I've heard their packaging has improved so now they're like Amazon's, at least for regular Blu-rays, so they now come in those card 'wallets'. However, I don't know if this applies to box sets or if they still send such things in jiffy bags.

I would buy from Play, but their packaging isn't much better and HMV's prices are double what they are on Amazon. So any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I'd buy the sets from Play, everything that I have bought from Indigostarfish has either arrived damaged, or a used item that was advertised as new. And thanks to their terrible packaging, sometimes the discs come loose and rattle around in the case.

Awful, just awful.

Problem with buying it in stores is they're usually more expensive than online. Guess you can't win.
