Nathan_393, you should invest in the seiki for European imports, as sometimes the prices are way lower and have titles we don't have in NA. It's cheap and it works.

My copy of Hausu showed up today after my mom came into the city. Haveto wait until Doctor Who day now.

If I was forced to a choice, I'd watch Muppets Take Manhattan first, and then Seventh Seal to cheer up.

A lot of Blu-ray and Criterion fanatics are exceedingly creative, and it's hard to imagine the results being disappointing.
Well, there was a protest contest on CriterionForums to design a better Modern Times cover, and came up with about SIX better/more intuitive ideas than we ultimately got...
That was after the fact, though.

How about enforcing the point with guesses at how wrong a Criterion GZ cover could be, and what a Criterion GZ cover SHOULD be?

You could easily argue that all three have a similar plot of the protagonist trying to find himself to prove what kind of a person he is. However, HTTYD is definitely closer in time period and geographical location to The Seventh Seal. Also, the concept of death is much more prevailent in HTTYD than The Muppets Take Manhattan. Some Like it Hot is too light-hearted to be watched with The Seventh Seal, I'll watch it tomorrow.
...as well as with How to Train Your Dragon or The Muppets

I'm hoping for a 15% or so coupon, but hope in one hand, a bird in the bush.... huh?? nevermind.
I hope I don't break any rules by posting this here, but Y3Y7P3C will get members and non-members alike 10% off eligible items.

Still hoping for a 15% off as well...

Arguably, Kermit getting hit by a car, and Hiccup losing his leg is a bit more depressing than "Daphne" and "Josephine" almost being shot by the mod. I know Kermit's accident traumatised me at the tender age of 4.

Muppets Take Manhattan is more depressing than the Seventh Seal for most of the film, it's all about failure, until you catch a lucky break to get on Brodaway. Besides, both have comedy bits in them.

Edit: Muppets have the Swedish Chef, Seventh Seal is Swedish. Another connection!

Yeah, and at least it's the REAL Muppets, and not those weird obnoxious fakes from the upcoming Disney movie!
(Talk about "depressing"...)

I'm still going to see it. Can't be any worse than the last few Muppet films. I just want Disney to hurry up and release Seasons 4 & 5 on DVD already, damnit!

I'll have to consider that; it's a very good idea.

After sitting in the Star Wars thread for so long today reading over everybody's giant battles, the thought crossed my mind that I'd love to see Criterion do a release of the OT. Would any collectors actually pick it up or would it be written off as a commercial novelty thanks to its popularity?

I would buy it in a New York minute.

I would too. I feel like Criterion released them on Laserdisc or something, even though I know they didn't. But I'd be all over it.

This!! I wish the dvds were just a bit better looking as well.

I wish I liked the Muppet movies more than I do. They are only successful in pieces, usually one off gags and musical numbers. One of Jim Henson's major failings as a film director is that he films to show off what his puppets and creatures could do instead of filming to mask what they can't. The tv show never had that problem.

One of the first Criterion's that I bought, along with the Complete Monterey Pop Festival. Both are outstanding as released on Criterion.

I know they won't / can't sell items to the UK but does anyone know if they would send a replacement case to the UK?

Oh boy; I dunno. I like digipack releases personally and I think that might add to the "collector's" status of the releases, but hey, that's just me. I could see something like this being released as a "Limited/Numbered Edition" Digipack with a plastic case following 60 days later.

I could live with 60 days. I'd probably wait for the next B&N sale anyway.

I'm in.

Unless we're counting the Disney Parks attraction, Jim only directed "Great Muppet Caper", and yes, that WAS his biggest directorial problem with the movie. (Okay, enough with the freakin' bicycles, already! )
The first "Muppet Movie" was directed by James Frawley (of "Monkees" fame), and is the only one so far to have captured the particularly silly/sentimental rhythm of the original Show.

...Me, I'm also partial to 1985's "Sesame Street: Follow That Bird", but Jim didn't direct that one either.

I asked them once about sending them to Australia and they said they couldn't and the only way to get them is if I know someone in the US who could buy them and then ship them to me. Unfortunately, I do not.
