I think it looks great; like Ken said some grain in darker scenes but nothing bad.

I've watched it 4 times already. Only got 17 titles so tend to watch them over and over again. Slow time of the year after Xmas so not to much money for movies right now.

Anyone besides the OP with exactly one post to his unknown screen name with no specifics (equipment, setup, etc.) watch this thing?

FWIW, I've been hearing mostly good things about the disc. I haven't yet had a chance to see it for myself.

Hmmmm....

I have the Sony KDSR70XBR2 displaying from the Sony BDP-S1 Blu-Ray Player and I purchased Alien vs Predator and after reading this post, I viewed it a second time, looking a little more critically. The presentation IMO is steller, nothing to complain about. The detail is there. I have the sharpness setting on the TV 'Off', Iris setting to '1', Video Noise Reduction set at 'medium', Contrast at 60%, and brightness at 45%. This has yielded amazing images. So, the person complaining about the DVD, may actually have the settings on the TV all screwed up.

I have this title as well and I thought the PQ was 4/5. The reflection off of the aliens were insane. Crisp picture. No complaints

I agree, it actually is a very good transfer. I guess it all depends on the equipment you are using. You get what you pay for!

OK. I agree with the idea that you get what you pay for. However, I have already noted that my system plays other blu-ray discs fine. Therefore, I think we would all agree that if a system displays 5 movies beautifully and 1 movie not so beautifully, the argument should stray from the "you get what you pay for" mentality and instead focus on the quality of the anomalous disc. I am willing to accept that the transfer of AVP is fine and instead submit that I must be focusing on what I consider to be to much unneeded grain in the source material. Perhaps I was expecting too much.

I still have to ask: Do you think, considering source material, blu-ray transfer and everything else you can think of, AVP looks as good as Fantastic Four and Underworld: Evolution? In other words, if you had to say which disc of the three looks best, would it really be AVP?

IMO - For these dark kind of movies, and you want the best of the two to display to others, as your reference disc, go with Underworld: Evolution, not only are you getting a very fine presentation, you'll be watching Kate !!!
