I think RD is Tarantino's best work and only serious exploration of "honor among thieves" and crime/punishment...themes he comes back to again and again but never with the raw honesty of RD. The screenplay and direction has some amateur touches but Keitel, Roth and Buscemi's performances rank this above anything else Tarantino did, IMHO.
